Hey there simon, my oh my the spec on your motor has changed a lil bit since i last looked at this thread lol.
Hmm DH22's - are these not similar to the V3 STI cam?
Where did you source the EJ22 from?
Are you now an official Solaris Mapper?
Keep up the good work, looking good.

I have followed this ej22t for a few years and mapped it about 8times in two different cars for customers
it then went up for sale so I jumped at it and now converted it to 2.35litre
Yes I am a Solaris dealer

all machine work has been done but Steve at SMG..
Mike Latimer has dummy built the bottom end for me and is building it properly this week.
I just don't have time or clean area to build bottom end..
I will then be bolting heads on and building rest of it etc..

I prefer the software on the solaris and simtek to the m800.. but from end user point of view the simtek is very good.. the m800 very good with extra features but cost is massive.. the solarisis very very good has the features of m800 if not more (knock control for example) yet pricing is very good.
the vernier cams allow the cam wheels to be set to get the correct lift and duration.. the avcs is obviously variable.. the avcs heads work very well.. main gains on spool and therefore torque.

will post some pics when I get time but the old engine is half stripped.. it would appear I was very lucky as the exhaust cam wheel on the side where the intercooler pipe went through the radiator has a large chunk missing.. basically all the lip off the edge has been removed for about a quarter of its circumference... I presume the intercooler pipe after going through the rad bounced on the cam cover.. I checked the cover and all looked fine but I assume it bashed against the cam wheel.. I cannot be sure as I had half removed the belt when I noticed but I think the cam timing was still correct.

I'd love to but so much else going on else where on the car at the moment.
I keep considering weight.. ie. shortening wiring and removing unused wires..
I won't do any smoothing as difficult not to use filler and add weight

would neaten it up but it only takes an hour to get the engine out so to be honest just a lot of work to make it look neat.. but something to consider when I eventually do a custom loom for it in the future.

Hi there, Awesome car!!
In the earlier pics looks like your using an Apexi AFC (correct me if I am wrong!) ~ I'd like to ask if are you are/were you using this in conjunction with an after market ECU? I'm sort of guessing not, as surely an aftermarket ecu would have the features that the AFC offers built in; but on the other hand you obviously you tune ecu's for a living so I'm guessing you might likely would be running an aftermarket ecu aswell? I'm curious, do you rate using the Apexi AFC on a Scoob? What sort of set up would you recommend it for?
Cheers

yep your wrong.. lol
the only Apexi unit the car has and has had since I have owned this shell is an Apexi AVCR for boost control as I like the change and fiddle wit hthe boost whilst out in the car.
I don't rate the AFC I am afraid.

Hey Simon,
Really sorry to have hijacked your thread like this but I'm in desperate need of some help and have already tried e-mailing and calling you to no avail.
I'm currently importing a 98 STi Type RA V-Limited. I know I need to get engine management to allow it to run on our fuel here in the Caribbean and the APEXi Power FC seems to be the most economic way to go as well as being pretty functional.
What I don't know however is which unit to get. There are 2 listed for the EJ20K. One is the GC8D which i think is part number 414-F002 and the other is GC8DL which I think is part number 414-F005. Can you please educate me as to the differences between them, and advantages and/or disadvantages of using either. It's really important because the car will be here soon and I've already passed up two GC8D units because I was told the GC8DL is the way to go.
Thanks in advance!
P.S Sorry about the hijack again!
