I am voting 'NO!'

Can't stand this money grabbing government

oh and FAO Jacko's mate.

Yes a hear they are going to eventually finish the bypass from Handforth to the Airport, ruining alot of nice countryside in Style. Should take a lot of traffic out of Heald Green though! We've always been the Airport cut through.

My expectation is that the Trafford Centre will establish a car park outside the congestion zone and operate a Park & Ride. Don't know if that would be subject to CC itself?

In reference to more springing up?
One of the areas of London is hopefully getting removed, so its not all doom and gloom.

Yes I know Snazy-all due to Boris in fact.

I don't necessarily think that will apply everywhere else though.

Na your right mate, its a local gov thing not so much a central thing. Thats how they will ultimately try and get away with congestion charges AND road charging... if they got their way.

Fingers crossed over time some of these ideas and plans are forgotton about.

lots of small town centre's inside the M60 will die, this will leave the council with big holes in the revenue(rates) ,
rushhour has changed dramatically since the fuel went up (£1.30litre diesel)earlier in the year and the credit crunch after
this week i set off through boothstown to J13 M60 at 8.45am and was on the M60 before 9am unheard of 12months ago
misses works/drives into manchester centre everyday, her commute time has fallen by 15/20minutes minimum!!!!
all small business inside the M60 will slowly move out if they pass it, again leaving 1000's of sq ft of empty building paying the council no money
with the currant climate they must be mad to think manchester can take it
bolton , wigan , altringham ,stockport, ashton etc will all be rubbing there hands
even liverpool with its new centre "liverpool 1" will be laughing at the council and hoping they push ahead
if i need to go into the centre during charge times it will be on 2 wheels there getting f**k all out of me

If you look at the bigger picture it gets even more concerning, there are new business rates laws which state that even empty buildings must pay business rates. This is to make sure the council get their income.... The whole thing stinks.

Our votes are in the post, I dont know one single person that voted yes.

Even if everyone votes no they may still go ahead, if they don't like the result they'll just find a different reason to go ahead.
If councils wanted to really reduce pollution etc. they'd just pedestrianize more areas or reduce road improvements.
It's all about money, nothing else, they'll just find a new way of extracting money.

Do work not pay for this? When I worked at the airport the company I worked for paid for out parking, mind you it was on Staff West so not exactly close to T1!

I agree entirely. Public transport is rubbish in Manchester since they privatised it. Getting in to town takes 45 minutes on the bus and I live two miles away! Why would I do that and have to sit next to Joe Public when I can sit in my car and drive? If the bus was direct and cheap enough then sure it would be easier than parking up in town.
If they really want to sell it they should have said if we deliver x,y and z would you be prepared to pay a congestion charge? If we say yes then the government can lend Manchester the money, do the work and then bring in the charge. Charging first just tempts the thieving swines to take the majority of the money to spend elsewhere. Its another stealth tax.

I travel in by car 2 or 3 mornings a week at the moment and it takes me very little time. No real congestion to speak of.

I don't know of anyone who has voted yes either, IMO a yes win will be more suspicious than the Florida recount.

Also, I enter "the zone" 3 times a week or more on business and don't get to vote because I live 15miles outside of it

Apparently 67% of voters voted FOR the Western Extension when it came in to London....... So they would have you believe. Im sure the figures would be similar in Manchester.... the ones you see anyway.

Well i voted no in the end, even though it would benefit me and my family,
if they got it, you dont know what would have been planned for the future, like more cost or bigger time zones, and businesses need all the help they can get so i changed my mind and voted no.
