Just received my voting pack .
Trying to bribe us into voting for it on the promise of improved service, trams ,buses ,trains etc . Should they have not been investing in all of these already with the money they have already taken off us over the years ???:wall: Cheeky bleeders can stick it were the sun dont shine :hjtwofing Only my opinion of course ....... |
Its a nightmare, I would do anything to get rid of the one down here. Vote NO!!

It wont effect me, as i dont go near the boundary i work and live on the south side, and will benefit from a metrolink route into didsbury.
so im inclined to vote yes !! sorry |
one other thing, i suspect voting against it will be a waste of time.
|
If it's anything like the London CC, all it will ultimately be is a revenue generating system.
The price will go up, public transport and services will not improve and, most importantly of all, congestion will eventually be just as bad as it ever was. |
It is important to oppose schemes like this, as if they catch on sooner or later they will affect you.
The last thing I want to see is endless congestion charging zones all over the UK, all of which are locally administered. Which of course means all of us will have to pay in all sorts of weird and wonderful ways just to move from one place to another. We are at the top of a slippery slope..... |

I will be voting no.
|
Voted no.
As has my wife. As has my Mum. As has my sister and husband. My other sister and her husband. As has my uncle and auntie, and 3 cousins. As has my father in law, mother in law, brother in law. As has every employee at my wifes place, as well as my works, plus EVERY single person I have spoken to have said they're voting NO. Wonder how they'll fudge this one? |
Pretty sure its one of those Ken Livingstone "what do you think" consultations, ultimatly meaning we will do what we want, we just wanna see how many people we will piss off in the process.
Messed up how the CC up there is proposed to work too, nightmare. Nasty to say but its a big "up yours" to the people from the area who have scoffed at the London CC for so long though. |
We live in Warrington so will be subject to the charge if we visit Manchester, but will not see any of the benefits of the Public Transport improvements.
Mind you we don't get a vote. I guess the Trafford Centre will see more of our money rather than the city centre shops. |

However I bet it gets pushed through somehow. :cuckoo: |
They tried to put a congestion charge (entrance tax) in Edinburgh a few years ago, The majority voted against it and it was shelved, but they have extended parking charges further out of the city centre to help make more dosh!
|
my voting pack arrived tonight.
Must say its not very simple, lots of faffing about and reading, sign the form, detatch that form from the voting card, place my "x" on the voting card, put the voting card and form in an envelope making sure that the bar code is visable via the window, then place that envelope into a second envelope!... Wonder how many people will get it wrong... god knows how my 89 year old grandmother will get on with it... maybe she will just post them back a rich tea biscuit with a post-it-note attached muttering something about the war.. Then there is the info in the pack - all very "pro" the charge IMHO. So, my vote is winging its way to them... I reckon it will be 70% NO vs 30% YES. |
