Your right Phil, all it needs is it to be inactive, then anyone with a car licence can drive it.

how can anyone witha car licence drive it? it would still weight over 3.5 tons so needing a c1 licence but id still think it would be over 7.5 tons so needing a class c licence

I also have a full hgv licence, in my experience you get some decent foreign drivers but you also get a right load of idiots which is basically no different to some of our own drivers over here. They don`t give a monkeys about anything else around them as long as they get from A to B as quick as possible, its some of the Irish drivers that are the worse ive ever seen.

The worse thing for left hand drive units especially when they are on the motorways is that they are pulling out from their blind spots to overtake which has already been pointed out, a lot of these foreign drivers are eating on the go with plates of food on their knees etc so they are not 100% focused on whats around them and whats happening, so a combination of things like left hand drive and eating on the go is a recipie for disaster in this country especially on a motorway.

Ive seen a few drivers passing me steering with their knees with a sarnie in one hand and a mobile phone in the other, personally i think the penalties should be a lot tougher because if a driver knew that certain offences meant an automatic loss of his or her licence then they may think twice and long prison sentences for causing death through blatent driving without due care and attention.
