Sigma or Clifford

Two penneth....
Clifford Alarms - Had two of em in ealry 90's. Bloody magic. One on a BM and other on a TVR Griff. Place that fitted was owned by a mate and he said we have less trouble with these than any other make - nuff said. They are still apparently that good but do need fitting correctly.
btw - I just had my UK300 die on me at Shell Wittering on the AI on Saturday. The nearby radio transmitter screwed it all up nicely thank you. As I am currently disabled (temporarily - please!) the nice Man from Mondial had to help me on my way - far enough to get it away from the TX to get started (disabled after minor motor cycle accident :~/ but we'll not go into that one!).

cliffords new range is supposed to be much better than concept 50/50x of the past.
I had these and admittedly had no problems with them. From seeing lots of alarms being fitted over the years to friends cars etc, it seems tat the more complex gadgetry you add on to the alarm, the less reliable they become. but now the cliffords seem to come with everything as standard hence their improved reliability.
My dealer as nick says is the most crucial aspect and I trust them explicitly, to the extent that I drive over 200 mils to have them fit to my car. I have had 2 imprezas, and two sigmas purely because they have never gone wrong. I am tempted to change to a clifford even though both have been flawless, mostly because I like the integral turbo timers, and because of the recent increase in car jackings that concerns me!
but then if it isnt broken why fix it!
I have had a break in recently, and am wondering if a dual zone prox would have saved me. My alarm did go off, but it was a smash and grab so I dont think they cared too much!
the scum got away with nothing but the smashed glass seriously hurt my new paintwork!

I've got a Clifford 50x, just had car broken into and attempted to take the car away, they couldnt drive it off, so i'd have another any day, had a few probs with sensitivity a bit ago but once I got to grips with adjusting settings myself i've had no probs what so ever and the 50x is still a top alarm, these alarms all do more or less same thing but manufacturers add a bit of a gimmick now and again. Wouldnt mind the latest one that turns lights on when you put wipers on etc.
Mine has dual prox, they broke in via door lock opened the bonnet and did something with the siren, broke the ignition and nicked my radio.

I don't think there is a conclusion on the alarm make.
Find an installer who is recommended and you are comforable with, then get them to install an alarm with which they are familiar.
My personal preference is Clifford, but the Sigma has a very good reputation within the industry - just fewer bells and whisltes.
