played some multiplayer tonight

ranked matches
1st game, some fooken yanks telling me i am useless etc etc
nothing to do with the fact that its my first ever game of warzone and i don't know the maps??

used to be ranked high as hell in gears 1 warzone anyway, everybody was ranked the same (ie n00b) so i left that game and found another.

took a few games to get into the swing of things, multiplayer plays totally different, i really like it, except i think the matchmaking stuff is completely ****.

get sick of sitting waiting for it to find some more players find 4 and then get the error code to say that somebody has dropped out

seams to take far to long to actually get into a ranked game, not sure if public is different?

I found myself wanting to play COD tonight only for the fact all my mates were on GOW2.

Gears 2 is still glitchy but not as bad as the first one, you can still shove your chainsaw in someones face and nothing happens and sometime sniper bullets go through peoples heads without them dying.

Gears 2 is awesome never seen so many people playing one game far bigger than Halo 3.

Its better than the first in some respects but not as good in others. The menu system for the multiplayer games seems overly complex. I'm not as keen on the sniper rifle in this one but the weapons are very good. The A1 for the enemies on horde seems very good they don;lt just run at you like mindless idiots.

Got up to level 20 but god its hard. Its worth buying for horde mode alone I would say and found the new maps are excellent too. Now if only we could work out how to set up the map cycles and weapon swaps easily we'd be away.

pointless giving us codes to "reward" us with the old maps if we can never select them


not played horde yet, but a chap on my mates list has already got an achievement with 50 on it so assume he has cracked it

he was up to wave 40 i think when i tried to join his game

i love it, apart from the fact that i cant select what i want
ie: i want to play warzone, NOT execution, NOT guardian etc etc

it sucks sitting waiting for the matchmaking thing to join you up, then people out voting you so you end up playing a game mode you dont like

i really think that this is a major flaw to be honest, the rest of its fine, improved loads, remakes of gridlock,mansion and the rest of the old maps are class, i cant fault it, apart from you are forced to play modes you don't like due to **** voting systems.

on the other hand, hoarde mode is the absolute bollocks IMO!

up to level 35 in a game this afternoon

Its easy if you know how!

Go into one of the sniper towers on gridlock and block the entrances with a shield that you stick on the ground, Nobody can get in after that, just camp there and only dive out when theres a few left to collect ammo, then repeat

It took a few of us around 5 hours to complete the full horde.

rang game up last night to see how much id get for a trade in they said £22 sod that ill either keep it or take it back to asda and get my £32, thats what i did with fifa 09 played it for a week against my workmates then took it back after i beat them all

Game at MEadowhall are offering £25 part-ex. Not bad when you think you can get it for just over £30 new! I'm getting rid today. Buy it, play it get rid while it's still worth something. That's what I do, it's cheaper than renting!

anybody playing multiplayer?

having serious issues connecting to a game

tried various game modes, it was working ok (just slow) before xbox live went **** up over the weekend, now it just wont seam to find any games what so ever ?

restarted the router, made sure NAT was open, and its making no difference, popped COD4 in before and found a game within approx 3 seconds!!

Finding games on hoarde takes an age, really annoying.
I notice that hardly anyone on my friends list plays it anymore, must be one of the worst in terms of lasting gameplay, quite enjoy it but its not great...

right i went digging about

could join co-op games fine, hosted a co-op game for act 2 and nobody joined the full game!?

so, rechecked the NAT settings and they were classed as open

sat for 20 mins trying to get into a multiplayer game, and had no joy, then tried horde mode, still no joy

i then played a local single player game of horde by myself, after this i selected public xbox mode again and it came up with a screen telling me something about a firewall and it could affect my network experiance

never seen this before?

went into the bthomehub login screen for a nosey about

firewall is switched off so tried it on and then back off with no effects, i then realised i had some strange "connected" device things, according to the home hub, the xbox was not connected and one of my laptops was

wiped all them clear, readded the 360 and setup the sharing service for "xbox live" from the drop down menu

once i did this, i could then get into multiplayer games quite easy!

most times i was in a game within a few mins, not sure if i was "lucky" yet, or i fixed a problem, but i have had a marked improvement since i posted my above message.

i suspect the homehub was acting up as we all know how ****ty they are!

I don't have a homehub mate and it took me ages to get on to a Live game too. I think it's just the game. Better off with COD5

New map pack reported to be available from 12AM PST (whatever pst is)

i cant believe a simple map pack is what this game needs, the multiplayer is broken, it is tosh, the matchmaking is ****, i managed to rank up once, then got stuck in a laggy game and ranked down, i have never been able to rank up since.

what makes it worse, is that if i join a game of say warzone (or anything in the elimination playlist) i am always put in with rank 3/4 people, if i join a game of wingman or hoarde i am always put in with rank 1`s

i was hoping the "big" gears 2 announcment was going to be something like binning the matchmaking bollocks all together and going to proper servers, but it seams like its just going to be another map pack, probably to try and get some more cash from the paying punter

doubtful i will be paying for this if it costs money, cant even play the maps i want half the time anyway due to the ****ty matchmaking :roll:

i was a diehard gears 1 fan, but to be honest, if it were not for hoarde mode, i would have traded this in myself!
