Update: Exhausts reviewed
https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...an-vs-jap.html
Each exhaust I get seems to be worse than the last, eventually Il go a full circle & fit the std Sti backbox back on.

Quiet Miltek backbox fitted & this seemed to lead me towards my next mods which were planned for a lot later but have now been bumped up instead: "A bit of interior comforts & niceties"!! Seeing as its become more refined now with the Miltek & now that its becoming more & more of a dailly drive, with a nursery run now included in its daily duties, other mods have to wait. One of which may be the Coilovers which will have to be put on hold for a while, even with a knocking rear strut.
Other bits have been crossed right off the list i.e Sti trailing arms/lateral links/Engine stabilser/Grp N gearbox mounts etc, they were a bit fanciful in the first place!
So with this mind, yesterday I ordered this:
Sony Ericsson HCB 300 Bluetooth Hands free Kit to be linked to my Alpine headunit to cut sound when call incomming etc

And leading on from this post from last year: https://www.scoobynet.com/ice-2/7047...-question.html
To now sell my JBL GTO 6000 amp & instead buy a smaller 3 way amp to power my already fitted front Infinity Kappa speakers & a shallow mount 10" Pioneer sub, still to be bought & custom enclosure made. (Amp to go under passenger seat & Sub in rear passenger footwell)

The advantage of this setup is that it is small/not too loud/relatively light/leaves boot empty/& easy to unclip & take out sub & amp for trackdays.

More money than sense if you ask me.
Where are you getting the sub from, and how much. I assume you are putting this under the front seat (although all the cash I'm saving is hopefully getting ploughed into the engine mods
).
Might be interested in a head unit, depends on the specs - mine is shagged but I really want an IPOD compatible one

I'm thinking of modding the ZX pace car- something along the lines of a Group N Air freshener. Pine tree or Vanilla though guys, doesn't seem to be much in the way of info on this site?...
I don't want to go ahead and do it then regret it afterwards, it's a big outlay only to get it wrong.

You'd be better with a refillable one, they do weigh a touch more, but the perfomance loss is negligible and they do seem better value for money in terms of overall performance as the offer better endurance - depends on whether you want a sprint or a Le Mans style performance
I'm aiming for sub 30's at the strip Jon so keeping the weight down is essential. Magic trees seem to be the one to beat here being the "Spec C" of air fresheners. It's a bloody minefield mate, I suppose the road to ultimate performance was never gonna be an easy one.
Or for a bit of yank style hella-flush action, try one of these...

A few weeks ago tried to get the Sony Erricson bluetooth fitted, but looks like seller, as well as Bluetooth from ebay was dodgy & didnt work
(Still waiting for refund
)
So after wasting my auto electricians hour I did a deal with them not to charge for the hour wasted if I went with their Parrot Bluetooth kit. Unfortunately was a bit more expensive, but at least I saved on refitting & got a full warranty on device & fitting. Which proved to be useful as I ended up getting the whole unit & loom replaced by them, free, the following week as the sound was a bit crackley on it!!!

Also as I usual I have changed my mind, again & decided to shelve the sound system idea as the knocking rear shock is doing my nut in & needs replacing asap !!! That coupled with the lumpy/bumpy/jittery Spec C suspension which also looks jacked up is not helping. So Iv decided the bite the bullet & go for a full coilover setup & ditch the Spec C springs/shocks. Sometime next week will get these bad boys

Your like a old woman when it comes to changing your mind
If all goes according to plan my first spend in 2010 will be a Hybrid FMIC, wrapped and ported headers and up-pipe and a sports cat, also wrapped. I'll then be off to Hughberry to fit that lot, along with my nice shiny trailing arms, 3-port and walbro fuel pump, do a full service, shim my tappets and change the driveshaft oil seal. The guys have already said I can use the workshop and ramps and they will do anything I can't.
I'm also looking at a harness bar on the current GB, just waiting for some extra cash to land in the bank
The final piece will be a JGM remap
If I can stretch to it, given that the cambelt will be off for the tappets I might try and stetch to some light-weight pulleys as well.
Then for later next year, AP/Godspeed brake conversion (355mm), TD05-20G, pink injectors and another remap (probably late summer/autumn) and at some point find time to squeeze in a nice set of red recaros
One thing about being out here is I have nothing to spend my money on

Good plan John
I also like to sit there in my idle time planning out my mods into the futue & working out time scales & budgets & exactly what parts to get etc.....great fun! Your car should be running very well after the first JGM map & mods, so much so that I think you may put back the TD05-20G & supporting mods till later? I think the Godspeed brakes will be an excellent mod to go with your Rota wheels already done.
But sometimes plans go out of the window, such as my std spec c suspension which I had not planned on changing yet. Even after it started knocking I thought I could keep on going till start of next year. But what with the noise being bloody irritating & the current groupbuys on BC & HSD's going on, it made sense to save £100 approx & buy them now.
ps what was that bit on my rear axle, next to the the diff that was perspiring a bit of oil, " rear axle rubber boot" or sumit?? You had the same bit changed by Hughberry a little while ago.

If it what I had done just before I went away it was the CV boot. About £50 in Hughberry. But if it is on the inside edge could be the driveshaft oil seal which I have yet to get done.
As for stage 2, I reckon 9 month will be long enough to get used to it, and with another job that involves lots of travelling I should be able to save/make some more money for stage 2.

Oh, and the Sony A200 is now getting difficult to buy especially in amazon where I have £70 worth of gift certificates and can get my VAT back. I'll have to reconsider my DSLR options now as well

I've been looking at the A230 which seems to be a newer one - it's around $400 (sorry no pound signs on US keyboards) and only comes with an 18-55mm zoom. The other one that seems good value is the Canon EOS1000 which is about the same price as the Sony A230. The Nikon D40 is hard to come by too.
More saving to do
