I had the wheels sand blasted at the weekend and used the remaining paint I had to paint them.

The finish on the wheels after blasting wasnt what I expected. They were very rough and needed a fair bit of prepping to get them paintable.

I gave them a coat of etch primer then allowed that to flash off before a good few coats of high build primer. They were then left for 24hrs then base coat and lacquer.

Just need a new windscreen and trims to put back in place then the body work is finished all barring a good seal polish and seal.

Here's some pictures I've taken just a few minutes ago:

There's a reason for that....

What's your excuse

No RCM stripes though. That would be like putting RS Turbo Stickers on a 1.3L Escort.

Will get some STI lights eventually

Lots of progress this week and the car is really starting to come together and proper look the part now

Flocked dash.

Next is an A Pillar triple 60mm Gauge pod holder. Not like some of the gash you see out there this really is made to measure and fits perfectly.

Firsty I had to make some holes in the orginal a pillar trim for the wiring. Ignore the windscreen it was replaced halfway through this lot.

Gauges in place and working.

Notice the new windscreen

The factory dials were green so I've changed them for some blue LEDs to match the new gauges.

Finally, now the new windscreen is in I have, atlast, been able to put my Roger Clark sunstrip on.

Ordered some clips for the roof trims and they will be put on next weekend.

Just a spoiler and a front splitter to acquire and the body work will be totally finished.

Going for the new High Torque Electric motor then Daz.
It was good meeting you on Sunday and the colour is White
Sunstrip and wing badges are just right.
It's all being done in the RCM manor of no compromise and I'm looking forward to seeing you in it soon.

Just read from the start again and the car looks SOOOOOO much nicer in white.

That has transformed your car from a "OMG my wife's diesel powered rampant rabbit proberly has more power than that" to a " slick looking machine".

White is in.

Looking forward to seeing it finished

With the new flocked interior parts I think the seats spoil the look of the interior??? I think some new lightweight seats would be just the ticket!

The UK rear lights needed something doing with them but I really didnt want to pay £250 for some new ones so I thought I'd have a go at tinting them instead.
So for £10 for some tint spray instead of £250 for some STI rears they've turned out quite well.

It was pure coincedence that the red and black of the grahics matched the red and black of the lights.

Daz what did you use to make the seal water tight?

I thought I had sealed my new ones ok, then lifted the carpet in the boot to find a small puddle down in the rear corner wells!
