They are. Grade A and others charge absolute top whack for them so then others follow suit and before we know it if you want one you're ****ed.

Some joker wants £4K for a Hawkeye setup on ebay the greedy robbing bastid!!

Think all the prices have been driven up as you say. Even Rob Day had his six speed setup for sale around £2.3k privately when he broke his car and sold it.

DCCD units command higher cash, and the hawkeye units even more due to the desirable ratios required for high power (500+) cars.

I personally think a 6 speed box is a bargain, given the abuse it can take compared to built 5 speed boxes.

Have a 5 speed you can have if you arrange the courier Daz? uk box with slightly dodgy 4th gear synchro. Also have a 5 speed sti box that needs 5th replaced for a reasonable price

Yep, how hard can it be to build a gear box, this is going to be one of my new missions next year.

Far too many rob dogs about.

Thanks daz

I'm just setting up the Syvecs to read from my Oil pressure sensor.

Can anyone tell me the Oil pressure cut off point for each of the engine speed break points so that I can set up engine kill on low pressure.

I'm assuming a sliding scale is used or is it just a default value of say 2bar across all Engine speed break points?

You need to set it to the lowest you would be happy seeing Daz at that rpm.. normal minus a little bit for high oil temp.. say 2bar 1000rpm, 3bar 2000rpm, 4bar 3000rpm to 8000rpm etc..

Also worth logging the reading from the sensor so you can see as sometimes they wont tally totally to you gauge etc..

And remember that a brief drop in pressure will sometimes occur as you come back to idle as it can be annoying when the trip comes on unnecessarily.

Small Update,

I've installed a couple of switches for ALS and Launch Control and configured the Syvecs for them.

I've also Tee'd into the signal wire from the oil pressure gauge and connected that to a spare input on the ECU. So the ECU is now seeing oil pressure. I had to tweak the Linearsation curve slightly so the gauge and the ECU corresponded.

So not only can I log oil pressure now but I've set up the engine kill on low pressure too.

Thresholds are as follows:

1000rpm 2bar, 2000rpm 3bar, and 3000rpm-8000rpm 4bar.

I'd personally reduce the 1000rpm one to 1.5 bar Daz as otherwise you'll get sick of it shutting down when oil temps are a up a bit and you return to idle after a cruise.

i'd have to agree on that one.i have my defi warning set at 2 bar,but there is many a time i have pulled up at a junction and the revs have dropped below normal tickover rpm.and obviously the oil pressure follows it for a brief second until it settles back to normal tickover.

Same here Arf,tickover can often drop to say 500ish when dipping the clutch to pull up and oil pressure can almost drop to 1.3-1.5 bar for a fraction of a second which could be a real pain for you Daz if you have a set limit of 2 bar.

If you set the trip time to a little above what the fluctuation is for this then it will still cover you for what you are wanting but erase any drop outs from temporary 'normal' fluctuations.

One tip though is to have one cal set aside with the oil pressure trip disabled in case the oil pressure sensor fails or wiring fails or some other non oil pressure failure event happens just so that you can move the car into a safe position. Happened to me last year at a cadwell track day

The car is pretty much ready now. Just needs a proper gearbox and a proper mapping session.

Here are a couple of snaps of how it currently stands:

To be fair I completely agree with you Ciaran.

It's out of necessity and getting it all working at the mo. I'm not enjoying working on it in the freezing cold. I'll make it a bit more presentable when it warms up a bit and I enjoy working on her again.

Here endeth the project

Just written the bloody thing off trying to avoid the biggest Stag (deer) I have ever seen.

Hit a chevron sign then the car ended up on its side in a ditch where a bloody great tree brought me to a sudden halt. I was lucky to walk away from this as the pictures I will post later will show.

I'm gutted beyond belief. More later!
