Regarding the 30 - 130 event on March 8th I am going to need to have a play with the car & 6 speed to see what will be the optimum gear/speed/rpm to commence the run?

I wouldn't think I need to boost at 30mph for fear of traction loss, on the other hand I don't want to be farting about at 30 waiting for turbo to kick in!
I best practice on that private section of motorway my friend owns

Any of you guys done this event before with 6 speed box and similar engine output??

Clive i'm sure you get more that 1 run so you can experiment, i'm gonna try a full blast from 1st up though the gears and also boot it from 2nd to see what the result is

Well, if you're gonna blow an engine up, you may as well do it properly!!

I think I would have cried!

Ok Ian....are you calling it a day at 130mph or going for top end limit too ??

This would be a rapid way of filling ya boxers !
Filmed at the 30 - 130 as posted by Sy on the 22B forum

Was only gonna do the 30-130 run as i've had it to 155 in Germany and don't think there was too much more to go

You definitely get more than one go - have a look here Mitsubishi Lancer Register

That's the MLR print outs from last year with car specs and multiple elapsed time results. Could give you an indication of expected performance form your cars although I always take Evo BHP figures with a pinch of chocolate

I seem to remember Stephen / P20SPD saying you hold it at 30mph through a marked section of the track and then floor it - My second gear runs out at about 50 and I top out in 6th at about 165 or so so it will be multiple changes for me , which won't add up to a fast time overall, plus I'll be backing off from the top end run as no point in doing a length of track bouncing off the rev limiter.

I'm more interested in getting some basic performance and weight stats for the car without putting it through transmission killing drag starts

The best aproach is taxi up to the cones in 3rd, dip the clutch, nail the throttle with the clutch still down, ram it in first, side step the clutch, then your off, ram each gear in with out lifting the throttle or pressing the clutch, then after the cones at the end of the runway yank up the handbrake while simultaniosly spining the steering wheel by 720 degrees - apartently its like a rally car, you need to send it out of control to bring it in control.

Aparently.

That's the good thing about this event huh John?.
It's a good idea I reckon as many guys with big power hate dumping at high rpm.
