You wont go wrong buying Roger Clark Motorsport parts David.

I have heard it a million times that RCM are expensive BUT there parts & build quality are extremely good and that's why we pay what we do.

Ok, the durations on engine builds are long, and at first I along with others moan about that but when you pick your car up it all becomes very evident where the money and time has gone.

They built my engine in Dec 2007 and I USE the car as my own car and other than one component failure of a MAP (not MAF) sensor the engine has never missed a beat. When the map sensor failed hotels were arranged & paid for and the car was back on the road by 11.00am the next day!.

Now I know them & understand the whole "Tuning World" a little better RCM are extremely busy all the time with very few (if any) quiet spells.

P1 being collected next Wednesday.

As well as the splitter & bonnet being sprayed the wheels are being blasted, painted & lacquered, new bonnet dampers (sprayed in Sonic Blue), and new windscreen top rubber.
Wheels are being sprayed two shades darker than standard, again. That's only the 2nd time in 5 yrs.

RCM built your engine in Dec 2007 - Pah! They built mine in Oct 2004 and so far so good

Snetterton track day - hmmm, about 15 miles from my in laws...

102dba noise limit - no idea if mine would pass -3" RCM exhaust but i do have the "quiet" version?

Clive

Might have to have a run down to yours at some point to have ago with the db reader, but then if your's passes I'm sure mine would.

I do have a removable safety devices half cage with harnesses that I would probably put in.

Will have a look at the diary - the other half is going to get very suspicious if I come out with "Ooooh, isn't it about time we went to see your mum again..."

I was hoping my Type R would be ready for September/October time but looks like I will now finish it over the winter. Like always these thing develop over time and i'm now thinking along the lines of a 2.1, I have a 2.0 which is having heads popped on at Zen but the broken engine I have needs a rebuild. I have just bought new pistons for it so as the block needs splitting also for a clean up I thing it would be rude not to pop a 2.5 crank in there when it goes back together

I also bought another shell to break last weekend to help fund the 'R' build

Time scale is always gets over looked when doing a build by all side of the parties and its the owner of the car that gets most stressed and fustrated

Clive it would be rude to put in a 2.5 crank in while the engine is split..But you will need custom rods iirc

What turbo is going in this build?
SC46,MD series,S205/6?

All great turbos if you ask me

SkullFudge

How long did your build take from start to finish?

Btw it's still not completely finished yet

A true build is never finished as you'll be bored if it was all done at once, just ask Daz

Turbo will be a 321T

You sure.....2.5 crank has a longer stroke so may need longer rods

1). "Time scale is always gets over looked when doing a build by all side of the parties and its the owner of the car that gets most stressed and fustrated"

That is so very true Fai. Especially when the customer is having a big power increase.
It proves similar to when you were 10 yr old's feelings on Christmas Eve, then being told you cant open the presents until August 12th .... .......WHAT ?

2). "How long did your build take from start to finish?"

About 6 months for the main engine build.
Many have said "how long" BUT it needs to be said that RCM do not seem to have "set pieces" for different power levels. I now know several guys with big power units built by RCM and all are different.
You tell Olly what you want and what you intend to use it for and on that info they will build to suit.
As you guys know, I have had much work done by RCM and the waits have been long due to the nature of the build, BUT believe me it's worth it.

Olly said to me it will be worth the wait and he was not wrong!.

Best advise I can give is just switch off. Let them do it and when you do collect your piece you will be switch on big time!.

3). "Btw it's still not completely finished yet "

Plenty of options left yet matey.
The P1 may be a complete monster one day Time will tell.
My current insurance policy covers me for further mods "up to" a max of 800Bhp at no extra costs.

Longer rods needed as well as a "stroker" piston or custom piston to suit the longer stroke, mark at lateral keeps them in stock...
