Nearly V5R

There's a guy who lives down the road from me with one of those new V6 Alfa thingys. He either drives past flat out or stops for a chat when he sees me working on the P1, and has mentioned that he would like a ride sometime.

Tonight I went to the shell garage and took him with me.
He is always telling me that his Alfa is the fastest thing he has ever sat in.

Not any more (he wasn't ready for that !) bless him.

Good work That should learn him! I wonder if you done enough to convert him? Would love a ride in it myself for that matter!

Yep, the F word was used again Gramps

The different reactions from people are really funny. That particular guy was telling me about his new BMW bike he has just bought when I decided to floor the bitch in 2nd. He instantly stopped taking, grabbed both sides of his seat.
I then put it in 3rd floored it but then needed to back off for traffic.
Still gripping his seat he looked at me with the most serious expression I've ever seen and said "F in hell, I wasn't expecting that" it was really funny.

The mother in law saw the P1 in Redline and then said she wanted to see what it went like, (brave woman !).
I also said to her " keep ya knees together girl, we don't want the ol' Jack 'n' Danny to start whistling".
She didn't like it, bless thee old bat.

V5R, will take you out in it if ever we meet. It's good when current Scooby owners jump in cos they normally think it's a bit mad.

I KNEW the [Alfa] dude would react llike that! They always do!

One minute they're all blase talking whatever bollox they're into (not knowing what they've let themsleves in for). Next second it's all stoney silence/disbelief/s**t scaredness... feet kicked out onto 'imaginary brake', whilst simultaneously reaching up and grabbing the F.M. handle!. Funny as f**k!

HOWL! at the mother-in-law anecdote!

Just found it joz8968

Some days life just seems to be testing us to the limit.
Others days life just seems to be just like the day before.
Then one day we have a treat that we never forget.
To-day has been such a day for me.

Skullfudge kindly offered to come over to my home and show Granby and me his car. I must say after having my head under the bonnet for a good hour looking at the Fabulous handy work of Olly & Matt Clark I can't truly think of enough words to describe what has been achieved. You will just have to look for your selves.
So "thanks Clive for bringing the car over and see you soon". No not likely Clive starts her up and "Jump in Hugh I'll take you for a spin".
Now I live in very tight country lanes. So naturally Clive went very cautiously until we got onto some wider roads.
This gave us time to discuss the car and for Clive to tell me about what it's like to driving the car since the upgrades.
So clear road ahead and Clive slips from 2nd into 3rd and ease the throttle to the metal 2500 rmp passes with out much trouble 3000rpm still nice and collected 3500rpm and things are now just starting to show potential, but nothing can prepare you for what is about to transpire when the needle gets to 4000rpm.
Now I have been in some pretty fast cars including a Le Mans Lola which was built only to race and was FAST.

But Clives car is on a different level to any road car that it's been my pleasure to ride in before. At 4000rpm the Turbo says "lets get this party started" and you are surrounded by your senses telling you that this is something your body has never been exposed to before. The rush just continues up to the rev limiter with the sudden need for the next gear and on it goes into hyper sphere. But today the road just ran out.

"What a great ride Clive" thinking its all over. Not likely we pull over Clive jumps out telling me to jump in the drivers seat. At this stage I pinch myself just to check that I'm not dreaming.
Into the driving seat it is then. Well would you have to think about it. Depress the triple plate hydraulic thrust bearing clutch and into first then lift up the clutch slowly, just to get the feel, through 2nd 3rd and into 4th car is almost like a shopping car, well behaved and mild mannered. After 10 minutes I'm beginning to fell at ease with the car and now have enough confidence to ask a little bit more from her.

Out onto the A20 and down Death Hill now known as Gores Hill, from 2nd I slip her into 3rd building the revs slowly up to 4000 then move the carpet and rivet the pedal to the floor. My heart has just popped into my mouth to check out my teeth and in a blink of an eye I need 4th and the awesome power of this car still keeps coming and coming the limit has long gone and we are fast approaching traffic.
Down to Farningham roundabout and start the climb back up to Scracthes Lane with another chance to see what this car is capable of again I'm left in no dout the power is just like turning the switch on and is instant. Time for one more blast and home for Granby's ride.

What do I think of the total package, well I've got first refusal if Clive ever gets tied of this FANTASTIC P1.
The feed back through the steering tells you everything you need to know about the road under the tyres.
The brakes are as fast to stop the car as the engine is at propelling it foward.
The surspension is able to cope with every day roads and can be quikely adjusted for track use.

In all the MOST desirable car it's been my pleasure to drive.

Many thanks to Clive for keeping his promise to let me take the helm of his PRIDE and JOY.

Great day up Santa Pod today guys.

Many teams ran PB's due to the apparent humidity & atmospheric conditions.

Huge turn out.

But as you can see, it's on again tonight (14th), at 9.15pm...

Were there any S'Netter's cars there competing at all?!
