I was looking for a P1 several years ago and saw the white one. It has quite a special history and had loads of carbon fibre add ons. I didn't get it in the end and plumped for a new P1. They wanted £24k for the white one at the time, which I thought was a little steep.

The white car wasnt ever a P1 though was it? It was a development mule so it will have been an STI V that ended up with a similar mechanical specification to the P1 that was released.....

Dealer/importer special editions dont count; so Id suggest that either 1994 STIs or S201s are the rarest, as there are 300 of each. Considering that the 1994 STIs were manufactured in two separate productions runs, then Id suggest that the original 'of 100' STI Saloons and 'Wagons are the rarest, at 100 each...

Simon

In that case then all P1,s arent P1,s cos there all based on the STI V,and the S201 is just a bugeye and the RB5 is just a classic with blue seats etc etc!seriously though it is slightly different,it has 1 airbag,no abs, intercooler water spray, cdc(not connected). It also has every Prodrive extra ie seats, upgraded brakes front and rear, gas discharge driving lights. It also has 18" wheels,so really its a p1 WR.Add to that the history that comes with the car(full portfolio)and all the magazines its been in(autocar, evo, auto express,to name a few).It also has the original Prodrive test book from MIRA and Millbrook, showing all the testing the car done in the hands of Prodrive, and its autographed by David Richards. They dont come much rarer than that.
How about the Impreza cabriolet (Alfresco or Operetta they call it) i dont think that made production though.

Steve.

Well got to agree with Simon (and the S201 was a classic btw ) that the developement car was not actually a P1, it was an STi V5 type R, the difference being it had no abs, dccd, climate control etc where as the P1 didnt have the dccd but had ABS, aircon and nto climate (note that the P1 was not like any other JDM STi of its type as all the STi type R's were as the developement car).
The P1 itself was a "hybrid" rather than a true STi type R, a mixture of a wrx and an STi type R.

Im sure that it is a V4. The fact that it isnt a P1, doesnt lessen its worth: Im guessing that you own the car, but even so, being arsey with me isnt appropriate.

rarest were the 6 1.8GLS with full WRX running gear
they first came over in the early days, couple went
to prodrive and few others went elsewhere
them is the rarest although i doubt if any are still alive

They werent GLs, they were JDM WRXs dishonestly registered as 1800GLs by the importer, as the turbocharged cars werent type approved.

Sorry if it sounded arsey mate,it honestly was,nt meant to,must be my dry sense of humour.I was just trying to get the details right about the car, theres so many opinions on this car in particular as everyone seems to think they know all about it,and some of the stuff said is nonsense, ive had it a year and a half now and its the best Scooby ive had by far, thats all i know. There were rumours that Richard Burns drove it,but ive nothing to prove it and im not that bothered tbo.Anyway i seem to have the best of all worlds, having the best bits of the highly regarded STI V and the best bits of the P1,cant go far wrong with that mix.
Ha ha,just read that and it sounds like im being a bit arsey again,im not..

"S201 is a classic by the way".. Yeah i,ll give you that one, looked on the net and it showed me a bugeye, just goes to show everything on the net aint gospel.looked again today and found one and it may be rare but man its ugly!
Anyway im interested now because "GC8" seems convinced its a V4.The chassis code is GC8F2DD.I translate that as impreza/saloon and coupe/2.0 litre turbo/my99/2 door coupe/sti type r and ra/five speed manual. But does that make it a V4 or V5?.Like i said im genuinely interested,at the end of the day the car is what it is,its not everyones cup of tea obviously, but its pretty special all the same, and as you can imagine im forever getting asked questions about it,so its nice to know the facts rather than just guessing, that way i dont look an ar*e like i did above with the "S201".Ive got the trim code ,option code, engine type, transmission code etc and im gonna just have a look and see what it comes up with now.It might be a DATSUN.
