Well done Lee, a fantastic result for you and your car.

It really is a credit to you and your skills, to make that power at just 1.5 bar must make it fantastic to drive , but aren't you a little tempted to see what it could max out at?

cheers guys, thing is Ty the block is bored out and 2.5 liners are week and the more boost the more risk would love to just crank the boost up etc.. but i have spent to much time and money to see it go bang so taking some advice from others and leaving it at this as i said anything over 450 and I'm happy so job done

i know if i ever had to do this again it would be a 2.3 or strengthen the 2.5 block to take more boost but its just a shame i never new about it sooner as could have had it done

i think it has more than enough power for me and will now start to get the suspension set up and other things done and just enjoy it for a while, will also try to get to as many shows / events as i can this year as it was off the road for a year

Wise choice in leaving as is.

Even though I've had inserts around my bores, the strength of the block will still be a concern.

Keep it as is and enjoy the car, you've done an awesome job.

You have more self control than me Lee and I admire you for keeping it within limits. TBH 450bhp/460lbs ft torque is 'more' than enough for anyone and must be an absolute animal especially given the torque that the 2.5 is known for.

What kind of maps are running on the Simtek Lee?

it has two maps on v power and the other is v power and e85 20% mix it ran 434bhp i think lol and then what you seen on the graph with the mix

the car had no det at all on the rollers and that is as good as it gets for me so leaving as is and a good result at a moddest boost so im happy and just look farward to going to shows and runs/meets this year and enjoy it
as i only use it some weekends and after driving my fait 1.1 all week to work everytime i get in it and drive i get a big grin

Couple of reasons you cant compare rr's.
The exhaust housing heat effects spool and boost. The hotter the higher the boost/flow, you wont get much heat in it doing a couple of power runs but lots on the road, you drive it on the road not the rr.
You can see the boost is slightly lower at lower rpm and slowly increases.

It is not 50hp down it has not shown the same numbers on a different rr on a different day.
That turbo needs some heat in it.
The AFR - I know and trust the wideband at Surrey.. unless something has changed it is not running different afr to it was mapped to so either their wideband reads different.
Are you sure it wasn't on the petrol map?
I did have to take a little timing out as you have 6gears not just the one it was run in on the dyno.. and you need it safe in all gears etc
What did it make at Surrey on petrol.

Simon

errrmmm Lee.. I just noticed something..

from memory (will check) your rev limit is set to 7500rpm yet in the graph from Ajec it has revved to over 8000rpm.. but it won't have.. look at the spool point.. it is 1500rpm out.. hence the lack of torque.. unfortunatly the dyno operator has not entered the gearing correctly and just run it on the settings from the previous car.. its well out.

I hope you paid peanuts because you definitly got a monkey... lol

not just your car Lee.. look at Cannon's AFR and how the car has lifted out of the rollers to produce the oddness at higher rpm.. unfortunatly and imho they have not been dyno'd correctly.

To be honest think i got the monkey to si....

its good that these issues are being brought up as now it seems other have had similar problems.

just to let you know si, as i said in the other thread, il always have 100% confidence in you and your work, just obviously with this results i thought something was going worng with the car, for example the wiring like there was an issue before. If you can remember...and it was giving it a false reading, thought it may of been the same thing...or maybe the fuel pump was on it's way out...

2 years on and you've produced a spectacular car which you must be proud of. Well done fella for sticking at it with all the up and downs and with the new addition to the family as well.

thanks fella and nice to see you back mate

went out for a run with some of the boys off piston heads/ sws and really drove it for a change the brecon and black mountains are great to drive and made me see where i can make some changes and areas i need to now sort

first the wheel alignment needs to be sorted out plus i think i need to uprate the rear sway bar to a thicker one in the rear

will also need a roll cage me thinks

also thinking of getting a knock link and a air fuel ratio gauge

heres some pics of the run plus i did get my rear door painted but never lined it up so need to adjust it

i have started cleaning up the engine bay and just finishing of a few little things i wanted to do like paint manifold as it was looking untidy, got new catch can and pipes also tidy up alternator and few other things just need new crome slam panel as the one i got looks sh@t

i will be thinking of getting an uprated rear ajustable whiteline anti rollbar and some new links then go get the suspension set up for fast road ,

im also thinking of getting rear windows tinted with a light tint and also getting rid of my sti seats and fitting some nice bucket seats

so will up date as i go along so hers some pic's of the engine half tidy but still a bit to do as i need to polish and wipe over a few things
