FUEL AND TAX PRICE PROTEST 19TH JULY
Just got in and 100% agree with darms. Car looked good, buddy.
Hope Chris got his bike sorted. I tried to stop and help at Piccadilly Circus area but couldn't because of other traffic. Got pulled by cops further down the road and that's where I lost track of everyone.
Anyone see the idiot who tried to wipe me out with the lorry on the M1/M25?
BTW, was circling Marble Arch area but didn't see anyone so decided to head back home.

gutted I didn't see it sooner.

Good to meet you today mate - maybe I'll catch you at the McRae gathering in August.
Again, a massive thanks to the Chief, and I totally second the sentiment from darms - 300 of you, and not even 1 in 3 turn up? WHY PUT YOUR NAME DOWN
Does anyone know if Chris got his bike sorted?

It was Definately worth while.
Good to meet you too Bugeye_ScoobWe was all glad we went to show our support for a long and painstaking organization for Chief. we will not give up.
Chris had to be recovered as the RAC could not repair his motorbike.
He was collected at 9pm from London Town centre.
Then back to Stoke on Trent
He had a long day.
Take my hat off to him.As said above. Why do members add their names to not bother even turning up.
Just goes to show how much people care about the Econony.
Just plod on.
Thanks the rest who came. Hope you liked my brothers Transit.
photos will be added shortly.
I put my name down for this but couldn't turn up. I did however have something (personal) that turned up early Sat morning, something that was far more important than fuel prices etc etc.
Not everyone that didnt turn up just fcuked this off cause they couldn't be arsed.
Anyhoo.
Not everyone that didnt turn up just fcuked this off cause they couldn't be arsed.
Anyhoo.
An eventful day!
I just got back home about 20 minutes ago and Im bushwacked! I just feel for the recovery driver who has to now get home. Ah well, at least he's getting paid and I DID save myself some fuel!
Really enjoyed the run out, and meeting some VERY top blokes (and ladies
). Got to see some well-sorted cars too, and that Transit is mean!
In the end, my bike didnt make the distance
its the first proper run out Ive done on it and it conked out on me after running oddly for a while. Apparently the sparks arent tracking(?) so it isnt firing. Annoying, and I suspect the aftermarket digital ignition system is to blame. Ill get it sorted.
A HUGE thanks go out to everyone for being so patient and trying to help me out. I really appreciate it
The breakdown didnt dampen the day though. Im really glad I took part as far as I did, and look forward to meeting you all again somewhere along the line!

Hope you get the bike sorted soon - good luck with it, and thanks for making such an effort coming down.
In regards to those of you putting in messages on why you didn't come - fine if you had family issues or whatever - that's fair enough, but I just can't accept that 260 odd people suddenly decided to get their cars mapped or had family issues on the same day!
And guys - that's not a personal attack - it's a statement saying that the majority of people have just become too used to rolling over and letting others do the work when it counts.
Shame really because the Beeb were in attendance at South Mimms with cameras and I'm sure we'd have gotten television coverage if only 1/4 of those who said they'd attend really had done. As it stands we got filmed but I don't think it got televised.
It was Definately worth while.

Are you going to post the video too?
I thank everyone who turned up and especially for the Cheif who has put all his effort into organisizing this, not to mention all of his time in this which must of ultimately affected his personal life.
I am so dissapointed that the turnout wasn't what was to be expected from all that were down on the list. I feel that from all the names that were down (including all the names that i collated from the RSOC) that for all the ones that had put their efforts into going have been misled into doing something without the Backbone of the majority that basically couldnt be bothered or make an excuse not to go.
If a plan is to do something you have to make it happen, it doesn't just happen!
I rang the BBC the day before a number of times to make that happen, which it did through pushing only to be disapointed with only a limited amout of people making their point, she did say that if their would have been many more there that they would have followed us into London.
Heard this morning that Gordon Brown is delighted with the turnout and he thanks everyone else that didnt go for being happy to continue wih paying all the taxes on his fuel that he provides.
He has also said that because of this he will continue to incraese the fuel and charge more for road tax as it seems to him that everyone is happy!
Thanks to all again that stuck to their word
Clayton Borg

Hello folks, thought i may aswell join up after meeting a FEW of you at yesterdays Fuel Protest. Top work by Chief for organising the event, just a shame that more people didn't turn up really. Still we did have a few laughs along the way
. Chris glad to hear you managed to get your bike home in the end, felt sorry for you being all the way down here and breaking down like that. I only took a couple of pics but i think The Borg had quite a clear message for the government on his van

As a political statement it was a bit of a bust...
As a day out I enjoyed it..
We got split up in London at about 5.30ish.. and by 6 we got to Marble Arc and decide to call it a day!
Still It was fun.. although driving slowly.. really didnt sit very well with my car ...
See ya all around

Blogg!
Hi
I was always going to be in London this weekend so I decided I would get all political and stuff and goto this Fuel Protect organised over on Scoobynet.
First call of the day was to get my car cleaned so found a hand wash place run by most of Poland..
For £10 5 people set on my car inside and out.. and I got a magic tree to boot! They did a fantastic job and felt kinda bad only paying them £10..
Anyway.... Headed to SouthMimms to meet up with another 300+ Scoobys and other assortment of Fast cars... Got there for 2.. and well.. there was a about .. 8... Scoobys, 3 Bikes, a Forester, a transit, a Clio and a Yaris.. :P
Had a chat with everything.. had lots of people admiring my car which was great
..The rozzers turned up and had a chat with the organiser.. there was a camera crew there from the beeb interviewing people... We waiting for about an hour for more to show... but no one else did..
Apparently there was a contingent coming from Oxford way but they all got turned around by the police with the gentle suggestion that if they didn't, there cars would be impounded and they would be arrested!
Hooray for Freedom of speech!!
After that we set off into London... Driving about at 45 down the M25 for for a bit taking up 2 lanes.. and Made our way into London..
We stopped off at the Ace Cafe in London, had a bite to eat.. then headed into London Central... Drove as slowly as was possible.. although in London due to how **** it flows.. i don't think anyone would have noticed :P
Got slit up at around 5ish.. Headed to Marble arch with a few following me.. and then waved good byes and I headed back with my friend to his house in South London..
As a political day.. well a bit of a bust.. as a fun day out with other petrol heads it was a fun!! I am glad I did it

After the events of yesterday......... I really dont know what to say??????
This could have been such a good show........ but Mr Brown won the fight hands down.
To ALL those who didnt show up (or at least let someone know they were going to back out). You all deserve to pay more in tax when the government gets their own way in April!
Lets hope we get another chance to have a protest before we all have to sell our cars and trade them in for donkeys!
COME ON BRITAIN!!!!!! WAKE UP!
At least the French can do it right.......... maybe we can ask them to organise all our future protests?

Massive thanks to everyone that turned up
TBH i never thought hundreds would turn up anyway but lets look at the positives, i for one minute never thought Gordo would just turn round and knock 20p off a litre. but for giving the protest a bit iof media Interest well we certainly did that ok. Front page of the local rag on Friday reported on Notts radio and interviewed by the BBC.
Its a shame the tone of the police changed in a big way wen we arrived at South Mimms, i wont say what for various reasons as lets say there are a few eyes moitoring this.
The other group that was meant to meet up was disbanded - also i wont go into detail why as above.
Anyway met some great guys yesterday and made some good friends.
Who was the guy in the black ST? you were a fookin' star mate you cracked me up.
Thanks again

Well thats it, I didnt really expect we were going to have a huge cavalcade...but its a real shame more couldnt turn up even if it was just for a friendly meet!
The bitter irony about my bike's critikul failuar is that despite Moto Guzzi's reputation for unreliability, the part that has failed is...German! Silent Hektik digital ignition system gets a massive thumbs down from me!
What I learned yesterday:
London is a horrid place to drive/ride round
Watching the pedal cabs avoiding constant death is massively entertaining
Being in a 7 1/2 tonne truck trying to squeeze through the back roads of Soho is equally entertaining, and scary!
More than all that, everyone who turned up yesterday are among the nicest people I've ever met!
Special kudos to the chap in the Transit who bravely tried to bump start a 1/3rd tonne motorbike, the lad (didnt catch your name) who brought the jump leads to try and jump it, Dean who kept well in touch with me so I never felt alone during my wait for repair/recovery, and everyone involved in the organisation. Shame it didnt go totally to plan but it was a great day anyway!

Chief, The chap that had the Black Bogo ST has joined up as Brad_ST500
Check above. He is a decent lad but he needs educating into what is the best colour ST.
(Electric Orange)
He knows.sorry, back on topic.

No worries about the calls, i know what its like to be stranded miles from home with no help around.happened to me and my mrs years ago. we had to wait hours until help arrived in a freezing cold car, in the middle of nowhere.
The lad who was the passenger in the Transit, who helped you was Baz.
(BoxerBaz)
let us know how it goes.
FOR ALL THOSE WHO ATTENDED
I'm sure you'll put your hands together for The Chief for organising the event, it couldn't have been easy.
.
FOR ALL THOSE WHO PUT THEIR NAMES DOWN and NEVER BOTHERED TURNING UP -
You know who YOU are

I just dont get scoobynet members who put their names down and then cant be bothered. What was it.....?????? had to pop to the NEXT Sale or something.

BBC NEWS | England | Nottinghamshire | Drivers form fuel protest convoy
I'm guessing we were the "Another protest against fuel costs was being held by motorcyclists and car drivers in London on Saturday."
Sad we never got any pics
- they should have used that one of Brad's Focus being ogled by that tourist in Picadilly Circus lol

Ooh, almost forgot...I had to laugh at the rather random route out of Donington Park Services' carpark - all it needed was someone to play Yakety Sax and itd have been like a Benny Hill chase scene
Investigation on the Guzzi shows the coils and HT leads are fine, battery is fine. Major suspects now are the digital ignition system (a little) or a faulty crankshaft speed sensor (highly likely). German Silent Hektik or Italian Magnetti Marelli...which is more likely to be utter pants?

There have been a few by truckers:
YouTube - Truckers Protest Diesel Fuel Prices
Thats DC. Theres been one in NY too.
---
I totally forgot! It wasnt just Donington Park I had problems getting out of...
At Northampton, one guy was talking to me, and I thought he was part of the protest so I didnt notice the other guys were moving off.
"Oh shiii~" goes I, and jumps onto the bike.
Anyway there was a little silver car between me and the Transit. She stops near the sliproad onto the M1. So I went to pass her, and she suddenly indicated right and turned in front of me. I managed to get stopped, almost, with my knee on her front right wing...then heard a 'crunk' as the lever for my mainstand whacked her front spoiler.
I thought "**** it, she pulled out on me, and hit the gas. She didnt follow me!
