Exactly, I'm not worried about a bearded man serving me up front. I'm worried about who's through back firing baby batter over the burgers and pissing in the coke machine

IMO, it doesn't. Yet if policy dictates you have to appear a certain way i.e. clean shaven, it doesn't matter about ability to do a job, just how you are expected to present yourself.

Wasn't saying I agree with everything policy dictates, but it's there and there's little point in arguing about it. You rarely get anywhere for bothering to.

Cool

Rules have to be in place and BK are not going to change company policy for one young lad who got up late didn't look in the mirror because he was probably late after too many late nights texting/computer games/wa##ing or whatever

pride and presentation is very important in retailing/customer service and if he cant agree with that then a dfferent carreer is maybe recomended for him

would he turn up for an interview with stubble?

It's probably a food preparation thing. I used to work at Cadbury's until recently, and anyone with stubble or a beard had a beard net thing on.

Possibly to stop beard dandruff from dropping in burgers - possibly the stubble breaking through the skin might disturb scabby zits

Introducing the brand new.............

"THE 3 PEPPER BUMFLUFF ANGUS BURGER"

Anyway, what happened to "you want it your way at BK"

No, seriously though, its food service tell him to have a shave a make himself look respectable in future.

Ringing his boss won't do him any favours, let him find his own way.

I would have a word with your son. Stubble is the first step on the ladder, then comes the beard, then the sandals, then the 2CV and before you know it your offspring has turned into a tree-hugging commie!

Yes, you want to be in Australia mate.

Maybe we Englishmen should wait until we are overpopulated then all migrate to Pakistan, Bangladesh, Poland, Albania ect.... and re-build our once great nation over there.

Who's up for building a big fukc off Church in Pakistan?

Slightly off topic i know!

I know it may seem quite petty, but your son has learned a good life lesson here - when you work for someone, you do what the company dictates - you arent being paid to express your individuality or try and start a revolution.

I take it your son didnt choose to work in Burger King having turned down the offer to play for Man U or become Alan Sugars new right hand man ? in which case until he has some skills someone wants, and can get employed on his own terms then he needs to do what they tell him to.

I'd also imagine someone like BK has a huge staff manual that includes all the rules, and if he agreed to these when he started working for them, then thats what he has to stick to no matter how he feels about it personally.

This is exactly the reason i left my previous job as Deputy Manager(but technically doing the managers job) as i had to enforce things like this and i totally agree that appearance is a serious thing in a Public related job especially in the likes of burger king/kfc etc etc. Everytime i had to tell someone to sort out there appearance which was a regular occurance in a day, i was taken away from doing a more worthwhile job. I felt like a Primary School Teacher!

I found new members of staff from the age of 18 -21 were absolutely pathetic, did not care for the rules and did not seem to care when they were punished as there is very little you can get away with as a manager these days thanks to Scummy jobsworth teenagers and there passion for having the law on there side.

Paul if i had of been you, i would have gave you son some serious grief instead of taking his side as he *is* in the wrong. If your son is old enough to work he's old enough to deal with his own actions. I would have put the phone down on you as soon as you started questioning my actions over the phone as you are not an employee of the company. There are health and safety rules regarding facial hair in Foodcourts/kitchens so his Manager was well within his rights

this kid has troubles...firstly he's flippin' burgers for a living....and then he has his dad sorting out his problems with his boss and his chin hair.

he needs to buy a razor, change job and explain to dad that, if he's old enough to grow a beard, he's old enough to look after his boss himself!
