how to get bbc iplayer to work outside UK?

In the end I just used the VPN on my router (Draytek) and it works great.
That and I just bought the excellent Slingbox Solo and can watch Sky anywhere in the world. I#m currently in Poland typing this with Sky 1 playing in another window.
