I think you are asking for trouble having a football forum. People argue about cars but their football teams they fight. I hate football so I wouldnt bother going in, seems strange to me having a football forum on a car site though. May as well have a weather forum and a holiday forum and a soap forum and what about a pop music forum .

General sports forum is a good idea
If you go to a general bbs, they are frequently not moderated, and EVERYTHING descends into purile slanging, rather than good humoured banter. This even happens on the rugby sites, so you are never going to win on public sites
I use scoobynet as it gives a fair cross-section of (mostly) reasonable, like-minded people. If we have a computer forum, why not a sports one? Personally I dont ever visit the muppet threads, but dont begrudge anyone who wants to - and what the hell do they have to do with motorsport or driving ?
I say just add one

Well, I'd say that if the scoobynet BBS system is sitting about twiddling its thumbs a lot, may as well get it to do something 'useful'. However, if it's going to attract a lot of new people purely 'cos it's a sports forum (as opposed to, for example, just moving the dull IT stuff into it's own place so it doesn't bore non-IT types to death...), then how close could it get to clogging up the BBS's real job?
At the end of the rally doo-dah, there were a lot of posts on sport then. And guess what? They were scoob related, and that seemed to flourish everywhere (not just motorsport) 'cos it was of interest to the 'community at large'.
Personally, I like the complete lack of football (I imagine the 'sport' that will be discussed 99% in the forum) that there is at the moment 'cos every other moment it seems to be forced on us from pretty much every angle (me not big pig-bladder kicking fan!)

I doubt if the presence of a sport forum would attract a single new user - Surely the presence of the computer forum hasn't attracted a plethora of techy types?
Hopefully it could hide sporting threads from people who arent interested, and I would have thought quite a few more people would post to it than to the computer one.
IMHO, of course
