stevie I do hope we are not going the same way as we did with the brakes
Here are the FACTS, I will tell you what each gauge is ,as it says in the manual, so as to clear this up once and for all, word for word - ' exact'
1. closed Lp / Open Lp = Fuel system loop = this indicates when the oxygen sensor is being used to control the mixture ( closed loop) and when it is not (open loop). it is usually closed except when the engine is cold or under full throttle acceleration. displays
2. CPM = cost per mile at this time (trip meter when full specs and details entered. displays
3. FIA / CIA = intake air temp - displays
4. FWT / CWT = water temp - cooling system displays
5. FPR = Fuel Pressure - only gauge not to work in the subaru
6. IGN = Ignition timing - NEW AGE - VVT displays
7. LOD = Engine loading = this is a percentage of the maximum power available currently being generated. displays
8. MPG = miles per gallon when details of vehicle entered ie cc, size of tank, when filled, etc etc displays
9. MPH / KPH = speed. displays
10. MAP = Absolute manifold pressure = This indicates the pressure in the intake manifold, it is reported in pounds-per-square-inch (psi), by default but can be changed to kilo-pascals (kpa) if desired
Ay sea level the pressure at wide open throttle can be as high 15psi or 10 kpa. If the engine is turbo or supercharged the pressure will be higher than this. displays
11. RPM = revs per minute displays
12. TPS = throttle position setting displays
13. VLT = Battery voltage displays
Now as you can see i have put in red the word display, this means that on my 2002 new age sti they do provide and display information from the ECU, where I have commented new age, this means that that gauge only works on the new age scooby as it has VVT - Variable valve timing
Now lets hope this clears all this up, if anyone wants to see the gauge working, I am sure for those of us that have it will gladly show it to anyone, just ask, but please no more silly , read the info

MAF
Mass air flow measuring sensor, this does not measure power on its own, but does measure air temp at the intake. So in a way the scangauge is showing some info from the MAF as most if not all measure flow and temp of air.
The engine load is measured by the RPM, the only way to properly measure engine power is by dyno testing, by it by rolling road or engine out dynos.
As for the engine lod and exactly how it determines power I dont know, but I will and have sent the question to Scangauge and will post there answer in relation to this.
So the answer is yes it does show information from the MAF

MAF measures the volume of air passing by, not the temp. Some more modern units may also contain a temp sensor, but not that many.
99/00 cars do not have any form of intake air temp measurement.
Newer cars like yours possibly do though as you indicate.
So it does not display MAF voltage output, or any direct output from it ?. But some strangely calculated number based on its output, and perhaps other factors too ?
Basically, could it be used for people to determine if their MAF is going faulty on a 99/00 car, due to it suddenly giving different than usual readings ?
But if the Scangauge output it displays is fudged by other factors, then it may be useless for this.
As to where power measurement comes in.....doesnt interest me in the slightest, as it will no doubt be ***** lol.

stevie stevie
MAF does measure air flow and temp, the scangauge will show a fault code for the MAF failing given by the ecu.
So Stevie do me a favour and go to this web site and it will tell you the workings of the MAF, please be deligent enough to see the split diagram showing the parts, including and I highlight this AIR TEMP SENSOR
http://www.wellsmfgcorp.com/pdf/Counterpoint3_2.pdf
as for what the scangauge shows on 99 cars, just for you I shall endeavour to find out, if just to quit

scan gauge works fine with ecutek, got them on mine, all the scan does is read ecu signals for info, ie boost, volyage, temp etc, aalso reads fault codes, UK models, jap imports is a no, been tried....., wont read 99 imprezas but will read all uk new age
