All accepted of course, good to see you are prepared to do that. Obviously it did annoy me at the time since I am not one to do that sort of thing. Neither as I said would I infract you anyway for my own reasons. I took it more seriously because of the context in which it was said and was not inclined to accept it as a humerous comment. I am capable enough of replying in kind if I had seen it in that light.
Should we ever meet, I'll stand you a beer anyway, and even Pete too in spite of his quite ridculous support for his hero becoming President of the Eu!

Just stop egging and encouraging Lewis to post even more Bumph than he does under normal circumstances.
No!!
but what would be good, is:
Should you loose the aforementioned case,
you have the decency to come on here & mention the fact and take the loss like a man, rather than turn it into a another fictional epic

Like I said Mart - I cannot lose can I?
I would have lost if I sat at home with a faulty TV and did nothing about it - taking on the likes of DSG Retail to attempt to get justise is a win, whatever the outcome.
DSG Retail have lost allready - lost money due to their attitude, lost credibility, lost customers, lost goodwill ................ LOST

That 'fix it yourself' site is the biggest load of sh*te I've seen for a while.
Faulty pixels are caused by contamination during the fabrication process, causing the transistors at certain sites not to switch properly. The suggestion that you can 'unstick' them by flashing them on and off is absolute b*llocks.
(An analogy: try levering off one of the keys on your keyboard, then with the aid of a hammer and a screwdriver, smash the switch below, then put the keytop back. Key not working any more? Never mind, just press it over and over again, maybe it'll unstick and start working).
As for dead pixels being because "liquid in the liquid crystal has not spread into each little pixel", that shows an even deeper lack of understanding of how an LCD panel works. The pixel is dead because the faulty transistor is stuck off, not on - that's all.
In those rare occasions where poking the screen seems to 'fix' it, it's probably that the connections to the transistor are broken rather than the device itself - in which case massaging the screen is a bit like bending a broken wire to make it connect. I guess if it works for you...

Well, Well, they ask for 60 days to prepare a defence ..... and, guess what? NO DEFENCE!!?????
Why do they treat Customers so badly if they are not going to defend their position in a Court of Law?
So, today, I asked for a Judgement to be made ...... in their absence.
If they don't pay I send the Baliffs in to seize items to the value of .......
I feel delated really - I wanted to meet them in Court!!!
However, it would appear as though I have won!!!

I know some have been genuinely awaiting an update and may have stopped clicking on the thread as nothing seemed to be happening.
Well ...... it looks like I have a result ..........

Well done! Please please be there with a camera and put it on YouTube, I dont think anyone actually likes Dixons so a lot of people would get great satifaction from this.
If I were a bailiff, it would be jobs like this one that make the job bearable.

Forgive me Pete for not re reading the whole thread
But what have you Won?
The cost of a new TV?
As they haven't defended I guess you would also get to keep the current one which whilst it does have a pixel missing would still have SOME Value or use
Well done btw

Bailiffs?!
The court judgment will end up in the in-tray of some random individual in their accounts dept, and cheque will get issued at the end of the month, just like every other invoice. If you're lucky it'll cover you for a new TV.
I can just hear the conversation in their legal dept a few weeks ago:
- "Got another one here, bad pixel, wants a new one..."
- "What's the matter with these morons, don't they realise it's within spec? Anyway, what's it worth?
- "About £500 trade price"
- "Bin it, it's not worth our time."
... and in a couple of weeks when the court judgment arrives...
- "OK"
...scribble...
- "Sign here"
...scribble...
- "Cheers."
If you get any more actual attention than that, I'll be surprised.

Well done Pete. It would appear that they feared your planned public outcry should you have won. Ended the case in this manner has simply strung you along for as long as possible in the hope you would give up, or fear having to pay their costs should you have lost.
This is of course assuming that there ever was a TV. Being the wind up merchant you are, I would not be surprised to find out you are currently sat in front of a Panasonic plasma from John Lewis.

There is a TV, I'm not sat in front of it and I'm not sure what happens to the TV actually?
The judgement will be for a fixed amount, the TV was the cause for the compensation claim - I don't think the TV is up for grabs.
Maybe DSG Retail would like to take me to Court to get the TV back?
If they want to pick it up I am available the second Sunday every month - I can't say which hour I will be in to open the door ....... one of their employees of the month will have to take a day off work and sit outside my house until I appear (sounds just like when they come to visit, doesn't it?)
I'm sure they have messed up big time, the Clerk to the Court said that 'sometimes' these big companies 'lose' their paperwork and ask the Judge to allow them back into the process .............. not quite sure what the Judge would tell them?

1. Walked in
2. Asked the Clerk of The Court if a Defence has been received
3. Clerk said nothing has been heard since they asked for an extension to prepare a defence.
4. I asked if my calculation of the 'End Date' was correct as the very lastest Monday 18th February 2008 as the drop-dead date for the Defence to arrive.
5. Clerk confirmed my date.
6. I completed the form to get the Judgement made in the absence of a defence.
7. Handed form into the Court.
8. Next step is Judge 'should' award in my favour and Currys, trading as DSG Retail will get a County Court Judgement against them and ordered to pay in full immediately as per my instructions.
Painfully simple ...... I would recommend that EVERYONE take a hard line attitude when a company is attempting to restrict their Statutory Rights.
I have a nasty feeling that this has some way to run yet .......... but I seem to have covered everything correctly.
Dont mock about the Baliff's going in
IIRC just recently some bloke had the baliffs going into his bank to get his payments back, must have been a great site to see a baliff going into the bank to take goods to the value of the amount owed
Well done Pete

If you win you get to keep the TV as it will have been accepted as being defective. Or at least that is what happened when I won a claim against a company that had sold me defective goods.
Not only did I get my money back, and costs, but I also kept the goods. The goods were not that much use mind

Good stuff Pete... It really does show how much Currys think of their customers.... they play hard ball face to face, but when it comes to cruch the just dont bother backing their bully boy attitude up.
