I have recently got a set of 235/45 R17s.

They are brilliant. Way, way, way better than Toyo T1Rs and on the way to being as good at the RE070s ... although much, much better than them in the wet.

Personally, I find the turn as good as the RE070s. You only need to turn the wheel a little, and then simply use throttle control to get yourself to turn in more: certainly so far, no washing out / understeering like was typical of the Toyos.

I have a fast tight adverse camber motorway slip road near me that I tried them out on the other day ... 10 mph faster in these tyres and no hint that the back was going to break away uncontrollably like I used to get from the Toyos.

I am now seriously contemplating not bothering with a set of track tyres as these are so good. Cant imaging how good the Goodyear Asymetrics are given how good these things are ...

Btw - Flintstone Tyres in Park Gate near Southampton is where I got mine ... but not at this price.

Tempted by these for when the Bridgestones wear out.......2 of them took 4 years and 32000 miles though!

Must drive harder!

Haven't got the full report but the overall results can be found here:

I've just ordered the new F1's - they are very competitively priced.

Hmmm. Would be interested to see the full report. Will PM my e-mail address to anyone who has it.

Also would appreciate a some comments on how the new F1 and the Vredestein compare with the original F1 GSD3 although I realise not too many miles would have been covered yet.

I can't comment about the Goodyears .. but these Sessantas are well suited to the rain that we're having at the moment as I am driving very much like in the dry with every confidence that the car will go where it is meant to with little if any likelihood of aquaplaning .... simply an awsome wet weather tyre

I used nothing but vredestein's on my previous car(ford focus), and they are by far the best tyres I have ever used. amazing grip in the wet and good in the dry too, although confidence in the wet was what I was after, as all tyres are predictable in the dry anyway(although doesnt mean they grip). Anyway...definetly one of the best - if not the best - tyres for wet weather in my opinion and i'll be putting them on the impreza when its time for a change.

Absolutely none .. and I am on 235/45 R17s ... so wide ... had some with the previous T1Rs' and heaps of it with the original RE070's (not on a track tho) which is why I decided on keeping the RE070's for just track work
