So, are you two coming along on those things? Or is it just conjecture for the moment?

So are you coming?

(Sure I'll get a definitive answer sometime)

It's just that you'll need to get in touch with Si to sort out the ferry crossing, make sure we're all on the same boat.

Hotel bookings will be taking place within the next few weeks too.

Can I suggest Andy updates post#1 with the correct dates and details on this thread. Although I aren't going I try to keep up with what's happening just in case my situation changes, but anyone new interested will struggle to acquire all the relevant info I think. I know you have a forum set up for this too, but a link to that on post#1 would also be good.

Look on the Alps forum or at the WEBCAM thread on here (Same thread, essentially)

I've put live links to webcams to give us an idea of how the weather is going.

A bit snowy at the moment, obviously, but hopefully things will be nice and clear for the end of May

So , I've weighed it all up over the past few days. fantastic roads, amazing scenery, great people... etc..etc...etc

But no matter how many positives I put on it, I cant seem to get away form the negatives.

The integrale is a fantastic car, being nearly 20 years old & as quick if not quicker than some of the modern days cars, some may say its an icon, which I believe it is, but I cant justify taking it across Europe, which is something I would whole heatedly love to do. Its not a money thing as I can afford to take it, its purely down to being realistic.

The car is set up for tarmac and is a very hard ride unless the road is as smooth as Paris Hiltons ****, but I'm sure that can be adjusted with the emulsified gas coilover suspension (dunno what is is but it feels great and looks good to type), but I'm not sure how to do it, even though I have the tools. I'd need a spare wheel and to be honest, its got to be the same type as is on the car now, but £300 a wheel + tyre ??? Can you imagine, just landing in France and getting a punture, I dont think I could do the other 2000+ miles with a space saver.
Also, having only 2 momo course racing seats and a fuel tank in the size of a small country in the back, theres no room for luggage which would mean turning my pants inside out... and inside out again for nearly 2 weeks & even the most accomodating woman wouldnt appreciate that !!
I've also today, been offered a work contract that could take me out of the country for quite a while, which would also impede on this great trip, but we've all got mortgages to pay, some bigger than others !!

So the end story is that regretably I wont be able to come along on your jaunt across Europe and sometimes wish I'd taken the sensible approach & bought another Evo, Scoob or that Noble I came close to owning, but in the circumstances of being shat on from a great height by my ex of 15 years , it seemed like a good thing at the time.

Alas, the Integrale will not be joining you (not with me driving anyway) but will possibly be up for sale soon.

Have a safe trip, keep an eye on those pesky frogs & return safely

All the best

Phil

Doin it old skool (for now)

Phil... That's a real shame mate.. I suppose me being able to put your clobber in my car wouldn't help the matter much... Even though some of those issues may be surmountable, sometimes the head has to rule the heart...

Good news on the contract by the way
