As for filters; Sponge filter is wash and go - I stick it in the washing machine on a low setting/quickwash; doesn't say to do that, but hell to it and its a 6month thing anyway....unless you remove the cylone thingy when emptying it (thats says do not remove) then put it back in out of alignment - so then cyclone catches squat and it all goes into the filter. Admittedly a stupid design as the only way to tell its lined up is by a very small line stamped in at the base on the canister

And always check wind direction when emptying

Still, I'd like to point out that it seems to be better at fine dust than the Hoover, Vax and Electrolux "bagless" cleaners which all claim to be cylone, but just dump everything into the filter anyway; this Dyson doesn't do that. and considering how many Vacuum cleaner we've been though its done "very" well indeed. And I want to hate it, as it looks ugly, its lurid green and grey and its always being used when I'm trying to relax infront of the TV

The only other Hoover that has lasted is an old "master" thats in the loft somewhere - evil thing, built like a tank, weighs the same as a tank, and to quote Clarkson "sucks like an asthmatic through a straw"

We've even killed a Henry! Well ok, the motor burnt out; not sure why, it was an ex works cleaner though, so fair to say it had some hard use.

Come to think of of it, why do I have so much Vacuum cleaner experience I'm a man FFS

yup plaster dust is what im on about, my girlfriends dyson just blocks within minutes. the trusty old henry sorts it out and carries on going
the other thing that gets me about dyson dc01 is the fact air blows out the front, if you use it to go down stairs it just blows the dirt down onto the next step. Grrr

Get a Henry, its the best £100 you will spend, end of.

Its design is nice and simple ,no fancy plastic bits to break off a la Dyson and you can use it without bags ,it sooks everything up. We have just had building work done and you would honestly not believe what it picked up.I actually felt guilty afterwards looking at his smily face.

I had an earlier Dyson but it was no good at collecting cat hair off the carpets. After seeing one in a very good hotel I eventually bought an Oreck.
I think they ONLY sell direct and not through shops. Stunning performance (but over £400 if I remember).

So Sebo are much cheaper than Dysons (£200), last 20 years and win loads of awards not yet a single mention from anyone else.
You're all DAFT!

Sebo's and Miele's are not the products that a typical scoob owner would buy or know about

She chose a Miele, and very excellent it is too. About £120 from Jonelle and 'best buy' in Which?..

Looks like a 15 year old Electrolux 600 series though - about as solid as a Jamaican tin shack in a Hurricane.

Now, any Impreza owner would know that if it hasn't got scoops, spoilers, loads of sticker and isn't painted WR blue, then it's a load of rubbish

Of course - a hoover must LOOK the part, cost a fortune and break down constantly.
Function over form for me.
