The main reason for the previous pipework was because I run/ ran a blow through Maf system, along with the OEM ecu, which neccesitates a long tube prior to the maf element.

However, I am now thinking of going Mafless, which means I can have a much shorter and direct route.

The existing inlet manifold did not work when flipped around.

OEM ecu Abbas, Mafless.


Oh, and before anybody asks, I have always ran OEM ecu, and see no need to spend loads of dosh for my requirements.

What setup are you going with on the alternator adjuster mate?

 

It depends on what I do regarding the power steering.

If i use the existing pump, then I will fabricate a tensioner between the alti and PS pump.

If not, then I will either fab an adjuster for the alti, I'll use a concentric pulley.

I tend to make things up as I go along.

 

I'll take the old pump of you if you don't go with it mate

 

Could you not use an electric pump, no need to position it near the pulleys and could even conceal it

Righto, having a total re-direction of my time and money, so EVERYTHING must go...

First thing I need to get rid of before I sell anything else is the bodyshell.
This includes 4 doors, ( including of course the rear wide arches), front wings, rear bumper, all glass, loom including relocated battery wiring. Clifford alarm with 2 fobs.
Shaved engine bay with 95% of the work carried out.
Lots more included and can make it rolling.. As it is now: £1000.00

I will put a detailed description in the for sale section later tonight.

Would be an ideal base for either a road car or track car.

£1000 is a bargain considering how much work has been put in to this shell. I can't see it hanging round for long at that price.

If the shell sells, then that will be me for project cars.

Trust me when I say that this has not been an easy decision.

I just cannot finish the car to the standard I want, with the funds or time available to me this year.

I will get a detailed advert up later tonight.

 

So the shell hasn't sold.


So I decided to paint the bay..

Managed to get a few more bits painted and fitted into the bay, along with a bit of tidying up of the visible parts of the loom.


Front panel is now a bolt on/off affair, which should be great for any future engine removal/re-fitting, and cooling fans fitted.

Wiring loom will be tucked along the underside of the bumper support bar.




Brake fluid lid and strut brace are a bit closer than I thought, but should be ok.




Brake servo now body colour, and fitted upside down to help keep the vac pipe out of sight.




Rad and intercooler pack bolted in place, although not yet ready for final fitment. The rad needs the water outlets re-working.




Fuse box cover.




Main wiring harness feeds now braided, and sprouting out of the new re-located bulhead hole.

Once connected these will be pulled back into the interior to keep wiring visible to a minimum.




Just noticed the brake servo looks a different colour in this pic... Hmmm, don't know why though.

The colour coding is popular in the VW scene, so thought I'd see how it looks on a Subaru.

Going to give under the arches a quick going over next, and get the freshly powder coated subframes bolted on next.

 

No worries Neil,your attention to detail is truely amazing and I wish I could find the time needed to do half what you have with yours but between work and family commitments I'll only be having a dable in comparison I'm afraid.
BTW where do you find the time lol??

 

I know exactly where you're coming from.

Running and working in a bodyshop, along with family commitments is extremely difficult, hence why I no longer do the bodyshop bit any longer.

To me, as a bloke, there are only 3 things of interest.

Cars, women and beer.

I'm married, so that's the women bit ruled out.

Done the car thing as 'work' for the last 25 years, too old now for the bodyshop rat race.

Time now for beer related work. I am now a licence holder, and supply late night party people with alcohol.
