Good work mate. Having worked on mine for the last year I know the work involved.
Mine's a DIY in the garage job too.
500bhp stripped out roll caged classic with lots of audio. (<<<view my scooby)
This has given me a bit of inspiration to get my hands dirty with mine again.
Good lucl I shall be watching progress carefully.

keep watching the thread, because i will not rush this car. if its not 100% it wont be there. i will wait for a show later in the year, i have to have the quality all up to my standards, i want this car to blow people away. not everyone will like the blue flock, but its what makes the car different and its looks pretty cool in the flesh.

northen big one 2009
due to a masive increase in spec. i have put back the debut of the car 1 year
it will debut on the AET turbos/WYIOC stand at the 2009 northern big one.
changes to the spec mean about another ten grand spend on the car. i will post the changes later. i would like to wish everyone a happy xmas and a scooby new year.
cheers mick.gill and family

parts update
right cant work on the car this week. not allowed because of some bloody event kids like. humbugs and all that. so went to demon tweeks and spent to much money
gill was not happy but we have all been there.
anyway the parts mean replacing all the hoses oil.pas.breather.heater.fuel.etc
with stainless pipe and aircraft fittings
the 45 degree elbows are for the catchcan. so the pipes miss my intercooler pipework. the 2 ninetys are for my new pressure reg for the fuel system.
close up of the fittings i used to use these, when i worked in aviation and the quality is very very good.
next pic is of the hose end finishers for stainless pipe.
they are 10mm for the heater hoses and the feed for the pas tank and the vac for the brake servo. not the worlds best pic much better when on the car.
next pic is all the stainless hoses and the petrol pipe hose finishers 6mm
next pic is a close up of the stainless and the finishers
close up of the pipe really high quality
the next two pics show the total parts bought at demons
four hundred and forty six pounds and 2 pence nearly fell though the floor has anyone driven 175 miles with there wife in totall silence. to say she is not amused is a chuffing understatement. she doesnt know the first bill was seven hundred and two pounds, i had to reduce that by giving stuff back. cant remember who served me at demon tweeks. but thanks for all your help. top bloke.
cheers thats it for now
mick
oh there is 8 10mm hose end finishers to come cheers demons.

new spec
now i have finally conceded that NBO 2007 was totally out of my scope for getting my car done. i can increase the spec
engine
i will have talks with my two major supporters in this project andy taylor AET Turbos and john and sam from TSL motorsport.
i want a safe 380 to 400 BHP. so i am not doing anything major in the engine department. i hope not. its already getting.
1 monster intercooler hyperflow
2 ceramic coated headers TSL
3 complete new exhaust system with twin back pipes ( either side of the car) hayward and scott new impreza mag
4 decepter dump vavle
5 o boost 2 boost controller AET
6 fuel regulator AET
7 full remap Jolly green monster cheers simon
8 full set of lightened pulleys revolution
now i know that there are loads of engine gurus on here, the famous andy forest and bob rawle and i know a lot of others. i have been a motor vechicle tech for thirty 35 years. but mine were million pound fire engines and aircraft loaders etc. so i am certainly not up to spec on the scoob. but learning fast.
all opinions are very welcome.
suspension is already in the bag. full tein set up with EDFC and perrin link etc. i do want some advice off 911. who is very much in the know as far as set up is concerned.
brakes im now going to go the full hog and fit tax-ox 12 pots on the front and tar-ox ? pots on the back.
new back panel is needed to accomadate the twin pipes or i might let neil at elclipse work his magic
all my engine pipe work is uprating to stainless steel. bling factor.
i need a top end alarm. auto electrics at thornaby. nice shock for you mike. see you in the early part of new year.
outragegeous graphics from mr sticky me thinks
total underneath of car scraped, cleaned, resealed, primed and treated. really looking forward to that
new wheels and tyres 18" ( wife has agreed good stuff that baileys) i was going to get mine powder coated and might still get them done to use over the winter months.
i need something. single din to go under my head unit. but it cant plug into the access port under the steering column. this is already being used.
is it better to fit a nice grill set on the front or just leave the intercooler on show opinions pls.
right thats my brain power all used up. must be so much more. in garage today update tonight on work done.
cheers mick.

christmas eve
wow got back in the garage for four hours. gills out shopping or killing my credit card.
i am fitting my forge header tank and also upgrading all the hoses etc to stainless steel covered.
quite a nice bit of kit. coming very apparent that the stuff i got at demon tweeks is useless. the petrol pipe is fine and the sytec clamps. but loads are missing and a lots wrong. since i took all the pipes with me i am not happy.
the pipework does look good the stuff that fits nice quality.
starting sorting out the petrol pipes as well
they really clean the engine bay up and look very smart to boot.
how is doing anything that will tidy up the engine bay, invovles cutting your fingertips to bits ?
all the petrol pipes on show
right thats me for christmas, look forward to the new year.
cheers mick

Thanks for the tip that Baileys works on wives (is everyones wife the major obsticle to modding Imprezas?).
We have been married 30 years this Jan, so I'm trying to find some demon trick for an Axis 2.5/ppg etc during 2008.
If I don't get my way with her I'll blame you! (my way being a big cheque...)
On the suspension front first thing to calculate is the purpose of the car. Is it strictly a track car or track road or road track?
Too stiff will be murder on the road and may not benefit the car on track either. In MHO the rates for a New age is 60/50 with 22/24mm bars.
Get rid of all the rubber and fit a rear subframe lock kit for track orientated use.
Make sure your rack is a quick ratio one.(a very good mod, you can steer the car into/out of amazing turns without taking your hands of the wheel .Adds to the go kart feeling)
Then you need to fit adjustable top mounts to the front at least that allow max CASTER. The best I know are Noltecs, but the new Whiteline ones look the ticket too. Add camber bolts to the rear. You should get away with the fronts. With these top mounts you do not need ALK rear bushes on the front lower arms. I would fit spherical ball type top mounts.
Last of all find someone who actually knows how to align the car.
I would travel miles to go to Powerstation and Curtis.
He has such a wide experience of track/hillclimb and road cars it's untrue.
Add the cherry on the top and have the car cornerweighted for driver or driver/passenger track use. It does make a difference.
Using Perrin or Whiteline matters little as I know Whiteline are trouble-free and the Perrins do look good. The addition of grease nipples etc does add something worth while.
Forgot one last bit, and that's a good front lower brace. They will work well when there is no rubber in the suspension and just poly bushes.
On bushes I would keep to road grade as the track grade are rock solid and my not forgive any binding you might get in the moving parts after alignment. High friction in the suspension is not a good idea.
The adjustment of damping is a serious matter as those springs will only do the best job if you can control them accuratly. You need to talk to a Tein technician. Sometimes contacting the tech dept directly pays off (ie in Japan). I did this with Whiteline in Australia 5 years ago and got to their senior development engineer who actually knew what a hillclimb was! (rare then, common knowledge now).
He was very helpful indeed, and everything I've gained over the years is based on his advice.
Wish me luck with the Baileys
Graham.
