was not happy with the wiring for the gauges. so i have cut of the looms close to the gauges and soldered new wiring in covered it in heat shrink and then put the three centre pods looms together and heat shrinked them. this has meant the wiring is long enough to go to the senders. with no need for open connectors. i will post some pics later

right i have been busy two new looms for the gauges no need for conectors

worked out really well nice tidy job

just need a hair dryer to shrink it, its shrinks by about 50 %
got some gear from john at TSL

tein coilovers, front and rear strut braces,EDFC,perrin front and rear drop links
perrin anti lift kit should keep me going for a while
first job make a space for this little bugger

well smart

best place ashtray

lots of modding to do

all you need is patience first a perspex holder

then glue in place and get the filler out fine compound as poss

first go then try it in place so you know it fits

looks nice, lot of work to do, i reckon 20 hours to get it spot on at least.
cant see it when shut nice

try the unit in see what it looks like

try it in the car looks well smart. when the sanding is finished. the inside will be sprayed silver to match the aircon controls

nice fit. out of prying eyes till the shows

right thats it for now. i have the EDFC controller holder to finish. also the rear seats to get out and some more trim to get ready to be flocked. CBC banbury

nice day thought right. garage full day on the car.
first get the rest of the interior out so the rest can get flocked
as you can see i have loads of room in my garage

the rear seats easy to get out

not impressed by the wiring install by turners above
removed the centre console so i can get the carpets out

got to sort this install out

the bloody wiring had two shorts on it. on what was an expensive install
rear trims and seat belts were next

top of rear mounts on show trim and belts came off easy

everything off now

custom built install going in back. most of the trims are off

all cleared out just got to rebuild it all now

got to be seriously planned first. right got all the stuff to be flocked

right got the carpet out

some more of that wiring install on veiw
right tried everywhere to get a triple gauge pillar pod. so i will have to make one

already had the pillar cover flocked and i can say its a bugger to get off
triple pod looks great

looks really good just get it flocked again. then wires in and put the rest of the dash together.

as shows below my garage is no better lol

right thats it for today im bloody knackered.

Looking really good, are you getting the car painted or are you stiking with the Black?
I had all my pillars retrimmed in Black alcantara, looks good, but the rears were quite thick for putting back together flush still looks the dogs bollxs!

right been working like a dog on the suspension, big change in the outlook for the job. as quite a few scoobynetters know my son paul broke his back in a car accident and is paralised for life.
but there is hope in stem cell research, this is where they are looking at growing cultures of stem cells and building a bridge over the break in the spinal canal , therefore bringing feeling back to the legs and lower body. this is a cause that we as a family must support so the car is being built as a show car but will be used to raise money for stem cell research at all the car shows , mags ,etc
the car will be carriying various stickers of the charity raising money. i also ask any manufactures or dealers to get behind this and donate some parts for the car. in exchange for this your company logo will get on the car. size depends on donation please pm if interested.
right back to the car.
first brake strip down

calipers are going to get repainted
stub axles are getting powder coated

easy to get off big nut holding drive shaft and a couple with split pins bottom ball joint and track rod end

whats left after stub axles off, bottom wishbone and drive shaft hold it up with cable ties

inner wings are getting the stone chip underseal treatment

bottom plate has to come off to enable the bottom subframe to come off

oil filters hiding up there. big changes to that. fitting a racing top mounted oil cooler courtesy of andy taylor AET turbos great bloke

big toy box from tesco great for catching the muck and saving the garage floor

offside ready to be stripped down

taking the front anti roll bar off, always one, nut ended up splitting it with a chisel to get it off b-stard

the trick is getting it off without damaging the threads

the next picture is of my chocy brown lab. who likes to keep guard guess what his name is SCOOBY no prizes for that one

getting the old drop links off new ones supplied by TSL cheers john

actually convinced i did this **** first. should of took the subframe off first

got the drivers side off easy i know it says on a STI you can leave these on but they are getting painted or powder coated.

subframe needs to come off

got the anti lift unit off doodle on the drivers side

now the passenger side was a lot of hassle, cut skin, bruises and even managed to smack myself on my bleeding head!!! still got the headache

the two bolts holding it to the car body were unreal. so tight and i have some great gear but bloody hell. these were tight

two hours later and i got them undone nightmare!!!!!!!

finally succeeded thank god

got the full subframe off. going to cbc banbury to get powder coated and pick up some more flocking.
the next two pics show the problem bolts and they were tight

right stuck on that job now till they get powder coated so on with the hyperflow intercooler.oilcooler.catchcan.washer bottle supplied by AETturbos andy taylor

right thats me knackered so its in for tea someone else was well worn out as well

SCOOBY!!!!!!
dont forget you suppliers its for charity any bits welcome please pm me
cheers mick

Great write up and all the best of luck with the fund raising. I'm interested in the oil cooler and where it's going to be situated in relation to the intercooler piping etc. Where did you get the oil cooler from? What came with it and how much?

hi m8
took a big risk with the blue flock. could of played it safe with black. but i think people have to push the boundries , i think when all the rest of the interior gets fitted it will tone the blue down. havent made my mind up yet some days i love it ,some days not so keen.
I think its a very personal thing some will like it. some will not

right got me stuff off down to cbc at banbury to be powder coated and flocked. so i thought i would clean the front and sort out a trial fit for the front mount intercooler

cable ties are there to help me bloody handful on your own

hyperflow from AET in wakefield

new present from TSL 25mm anti roll bar

right subaru anti corrosion system not very good

got to sort this out before i put the car back together
first coat a anti rust primer

cut the lugs off for clearance off the intercooler

no paint or anything on the inner wing

****e quality control in my opinion
sorted first with the primer going to use three coats two primer 1 underseal

removed everything on the front thats not needed

even the primer makes a big difference

big difference on the front

wish i had a spray booth

it makes hell of a difference

right last pic from this part of the rebuild

thats it for now. waiting for the red hoses for the intercooler. plus the flocked gauge pods. which are being done asap and i can really get stuck in to rebuilding off this car
cheers mick

as there has been a lot of interest in what car paul has bought. wrxcraig and others. i thought i post some pics. its a BMW 530 D M sport with all the toys etc. its fully converted for paul but in such a way. i can also drive it unhindered, well nearly. not a lover of beamers myself, but this is a very nice example of the make
it has 20" wheels. cant think of the make but i can remember him driving for BMW in the early BTC. frank ......... grand a corner then tyres. does anyone know anyone that can repair scuffing on the chrome ring on the wheels
cheers mick
on behalf off paul. thanks to all well wishers it really makes a difference to his morale
