It's not a full review. More of a taster, first drive, round the block in his mate's car.
It doesn't show us under the bonnet, doesn't state wheel and brake sizes etc.

Oh dear, any credibility you had has suddenly gone. The classic Impreza is without doubt the best looking Impreza ever made, it looks fantastic too, it certainly isn't ugly, it just exudes understated aggression.

With the troubles at Ford at moment in time we shall see if this happens.
Cheers Mikkel

Ditto Tony and Esh!
To read some of the posts on this thread you'd think (would be) Scooby owners don't read even a What Car review before shelling out their hard earned but instead purchase on the basis of looks and a ten minute "test drive" around the block.
Shame on us.
From the review the new cooking models sound good for their intended purpose and if that means there's more honey in the pot for WRC development, so much the better.

with a $12 billion loss I very much doubt it mate.
More likely Ford Europe will be sold off.
The company is very close to going bust, so any new models will be on hold.
Sorry to presume, but Ford seem to be heading the same way as Rover unless a miracle happens !!!

It's hardly a glowing review though is it!!! It basically says it looks terrible, which whether you agree or not, is quite an important issue when buying a car, it also says they are underpowered. "The vocal 108bhp 1.5-litre engine is gutless at low revs." "The 2.0-litre unit.....still feels underpowered."
Other quotes are:
"the clunky four-speed auto, with its lengthy ratios, has difficulty making the best of the power."
"So, although the latest Impreza is unlikely to scoop any awards for its design, it does remain a good car to drive, "
So to sum up, it looks horrible, it's underpowered, but it handles quite well and they've updated the interior. Not exactly going to induce a stampede at the dealerships is it!

Lets see.... which was the better looking between my classic MY00 or my MY03 Spec C..... hmmmm hard choice but ive given it about .000001 of a second thought and its the MY03
Classics look old when parked next to newer models, classics look old parked next to some old cars, oh sorry, classics are old

As I said, you aspire to wn a BMW convertible, you cannot expect to be taken seriously anymore.
Yes I own a MY00 classic, which I bought in 2003, because I thought the new models were inferior, including the MY03, that was the current model at that time. Although I agree, the MY03 looks good compared to the new car!

Owned both as stated, no contest, of course you have not driven or lived with a new age all the people I know who have UP graded from a classic dont want to go back
As for the BMW convertable, something nice like the E46 M3 convertable is considerably better looking than a classic shaped scoob, actually here is a list of pretty much everything (by manufacturer) thats better looking than a classic scoob
Alfa romeo
Audi
BMW
Citroen
Ford
Honda
Jensen
(are you sort of getting the message yet )
Go park your classic next to an old 1990 toyota corolla, see how alike they look (its quite embarrasing really )
Tony
PS, I actually said about the BMW that if I wanted something nice to look at id own a BMW convertable, though ill stick with the mondeo/omega/pug just for the time being until I get my new(er) scoob

Most people seem to be missing the point that Subaru is trying to move mainstream and sell more cars.
I personally think the new impreza does look a bit crap.. but that said - most base model large hatchbacks look crap
But.. and this is a big but.. I do think they've made a mistake by not offering the WRX in the UK (thats coming from an STI owner). The saloon is a more complicated issue as I believe that they are only going to be built in the US for the US market.
