Dunno until I've played them (mainly getting it for blu-ray) but I've still got Splinter Cell, MotoGP, Hitman, GRAW 2, Kameo, Rainbow 6 and loads of others to finish off on the 360 - so I'm hardly going to be twiddling my thumbs (well, ok I will be but you know what I mean ), I'll get Bioshock but its not something I'm desperate to play.

Reisistance & Motorstorm are more appealing to me than what the Bioshock demo has shown; games I'm most looking forward to at the moment are Tomb Raider Anniversary & Burnout Paradise - Revenge is one of the best online games the 360 has to offer, usually ended up with tears rolling down my face everytime that was played...

ah right I thought you'd run out of 360 games to play and hence were buying a PS3

Well I got the big 1000G from Far Cry at the weekend so that means I've only another 29 games awaiting my attention...

TR anniv... jurys out on that one ..

I got it for fathers day.. played it once.... and thats it... its kind of difficult to say but the original was a classic... this is a gilded lilly... you know whats coming but for me id didn't enhance the experience but detracted.

The original score made you think wow, now we have a remixed (popy version) kind of looses the atmosphere somewhat

IGN.com: Games, Cheats, Movies and More gave it a 9.7 !!
All the other reviews so far gave high ratings as well:

It seems that Canada Toys R Us are already selling the game and it's on the Usenet system already as i know someone who has downloaded it (still need a modded 360 though) and many people not impressed by it.(have a look on Video Game Cheats - Video Game Reviews - Video Game Codes - Video Game Web Site - GameFAQs on the bioshock message board)

I've just tried the pc demo, ran smoothly on full detail @ 1280 x 1024.

It was incredibly easy using the mouse, you can head shot them everytime, sailed thru the demo without using a medikit :d

It's available now as pre-download on steam for $55, approx £27.

I still think in the reviews it's being over hyped.

with the quality of the graphics im sure theyve filled up the disk which makes me wonder just how big (or small) the game is. The reviews just seem to be about the visuals

Talk is of 20 to 25 hours playthrough with high repeat value due to the numerous weapons and methods of killing. To see a game this highly rated by so many publications and sites means it's something special.

This sort of thing reeeeaaally annoys me. When you get simultaneous 360/PC releases the absolute rip off price of console games comes to the fore. Why in the name of blue fvck are we paying £15 extra over the PC verison to play exactly the same game (minus the extra mod potential on PC).

It's called recovering the cost of the losses made by the hardware by putting it on the software instead. MS, Sony, Nintendo, Sega etc have been doing this for years. PC software is cheaper because those hardware costs are not part of the equation, (hence the vast cost of a decent PC compared to a similar spec of console).

Plus, they don't seem to do as much QA on PC software as they do on the consoles. I can't remember the last PC game I bought which didn't need tonnes of hefty sized patches soon after release...

Yes I know the principle behind it - Doesn't mean I have to like it, or accept that such a large difference is justified.

They do just as much - It's just there are a million different configurations out there. It has gotten miles better since the advent of APIs like Dx

You have to accept silly console prices or more expensive games. Just basic economics I'm afraid

That's not really an excuse though. Especially when many of the bug fixes are in the AI etc (i.e. hardware independant stuff). I've generally found the quality of pc game software to be pretty shocking these days. It's one of the main reasons I tend to keep gaming to the console now (despite the fact I have a pretty swift PC). Just fed up of the bugs in the software and cheats in online games...

What?

What part of basic economics dictates that games have to be £40 in order to keep console prices the same?

If you reduce the price of games to £20, and double your sales , due to the increased deamnd that generates, you keep the same profit.

It's not basic economics at all - It's greed, and the first rule of business - Always charge what people are prepared to pay.

I think you are way overstating the case, but hey, it's all anecdotal, so no point in arguing it.

Cheaper prices do not necessarily increase software sales, it often just means less profit. Generally speaking, if people want a game they will buy it (regardless of the cost). Lowering the price of the game will not change the number of people who actually want it, and so it is very unlikely that you will double sales...

Not really. Take the latest Neverwinter Nights game for example. I've downloaded several hundred megabytes of patches for that so far and it still has problems....

But you increase impulse purchases. People are more likely to take a punt where they wouldn't at the higher price.

There have been recorded instances of sales increasing by 5000% when the prices of xbox and gamecube games were slashed. The same happened with Dreamcast, when Sega dropped the RRP of games for the system to £29.99.

There is plenty of evidence out there that a reduction in price would equate to vastly increased sales. Meaning no los in profit, indeed, maybe an increase in profit.

Fairplay - Campaign for cheaper videogames

it doesnt change the number of people that want it, just delayed sales as some people will wait as prices are too high. Like me for example i dont want it desperately, i can wait, i'd rather buy it for 19.99 than 39.99. its the kids, the playground (or forum) hype you all have to buy it now together so you can all talk about it, its all about the first weekend sale...

i dont think i can wait for halo3 mind

Possibly, but from the publishers point of view it's a gamble and when nobody else is doing it, why should they. Why risk commercial suicide when you are making a nice profit keeping the status quo?

In any case I fine it hard to believe that dropping the prices by a tenner will result in a 5000x increase in sales!!

The pc version of £27 i quoted was downloading from steam, ie. no packaging costs, manufacture costs etc.

Not sure what the prices are for the pc version of bio off the shelf
