if the Aluminium threads are deep enough then without helicoils should be okay, but only experimentation will find out. Some other pulleys I have here are steel insert pressed in a plain hole from behind, others have thick embossments on the pulley with longer bolts, but they have clearance issues.

You will also need to make sure you test fit them on an engine with all the cambelt covers on and screws fitted, I know my kent ones rubbed "sometimes".

Pins maybe over kill? Never had one slip myself, and they are a pain to time up as it is, let alone having the pins to mess with. What sort of graduations are available on the adjustment with those holes? looks like +/- 10 degrees in 2 degree increments?

It would really be just a safety feature . Having the pin hole's wouldn't mean that you have to use them as we can still mark them as normal anyway . It would just be a extra option

Yes that program is +- 10 in 2 degrees steps . I would like to see if we have room to do half degree steps when we come to doing the job

Aah I thought you mean't 1 degree of crank rotation. In which case 1 degree is fine enough, and as accurately as most people will be able to measure if they're timing up cams using a DTI and degree wheel.

It's worth remembering that if you're going for a specific cam timing, it's unlikely that you will be able to set all the camwheels the same, or even to the "correct" timing away from factory figures.

You are aware of how prodrive time the WRC cars up I presume, without adjustable cam pulleys?

Thumbs up

Hi Paul (Zen Performance),

Some very informative comments and it is obvious you have the knowledge and experience.
Your cars are good as well and I am sure you have respect on here.

However you can come across as arrogant and rude, there really is no need for it.
I hope you don't take this the wrong way because you guys are awesome.

I'm sure some will agree with me and probably most won't but I just had to say something.
Regards, Ricky.

Default PRICE UPDATE

Total cost for the adjustable Cams (all models) will be £375 +delivery . Due to the fact the price of stainless keeps rising.

If anyone wants to pre-order these THIS week I can do for £350 delivered . Full amount is required - any problems/issue's and of course FULL payment will be refunded.

I will warrant the pulleys themselves for 3 years with free replacements. I can not offer any warranty on incorrect installation causing engine problems / if it is proven it is a case of the pulley failing then yes we will be responsible but I seriously doubt this will happen.

Set include's the 4 cams/stainless centre's/hard anodising.

After fitting these if I get some, can some one advise how to best set the cam timing? Who can do this in North West area??

Is it on the rolling road, turn a few degrees, run the car, turn a few more degrees? Until best torque / power is seen ??
Or is it "just" a matter of setting the cam timing to the subaru recommended values for max lift at degrees crank rotation?

Any suggested settings ... for MY94 with STi 4 heads/cams on 2 litre with 20g turbo, 3"exhaust, headers etc. and Apexi PFC.

What are the main benefits of adjusting the cam timing, I believe it improves mid range??

Ta

your best bet is to speak to a tuner for a setting

I think scoobyteknixuk are up in that area, im sure if you speak to them they will be able to tell you if these would benifit you .
At high speeds, an engine requires large amounts of air. With Standard cams the intake valves may close before enough air has had a chance to get in there and these will reduce power, also keeping the valves open to long will effect power aswell , Adjustabe cams can suit different cars in different ways. A subaru tuner will be able to explain this better than I can
