As I say, if it doesn't get really, really bad, there are some fantastic coloured cabinet makers' filling waxes available. They're slightly translucent and they mimic polished wood very well, if you do it wit enough attention to detail. Cracking is just a thing you have to live with with green wood.

That side is going to be the skull Urban. The other side is fully fleshed. That is some really nice work Bubba! As a ex high end one off furniture maker I can really appreciate the work going in to it.
I've done a few smaller pieces myself by hand.
Whats the future for this one? ebay again?

Thanks for that, mate.

I have no plans for this one, same as the last one. Projects like these I just do for the fun - because I want to do them. This is easily the biggest carving I've done. I just seem drawn to doing carving after a lifetime of painting.

Have you done any painting lately, Bub? Since I last nagged you about it, I mean......

I still haven't finished that bleedin' painting of our mate's cat, from two years ago!

An alligator skull would be good. You may get some more retail value than dinosaurs aswell?

No, I'm no longer a painter - I'm a sculptor.

Not a lot to show for seven and a half hours.

I've shortened and slimmed the muzzle and done a lot of work on the eye.

Also a bit of scale work to keep my interest going!
