how does the other 535d owners feel about there ride comfort, I seem to get a fair amount of virbration through the steering wheel, and through cabin, higher the speed the more u feel, at its worsted at motorway speeds, its had the tyres balanced, etc

is there certain tyres out there that will transmit more virbration through car?

cheers

Hi Dave,

Mine is fine. No vibration through the wheel or cabin, right up to an indicated 160. I do have a "clunk" from the steering column itself that's being sorted on Friday.

Runflats are crap and I guess that you have the same NCT5 Goodyears as me, unless you have the non-runflat 19s.

It's not somthing that I've heard is common. Have you had the car KDS aligned by BMW yet?

Cheers
Matt

Dave,

KDS alignment is the posh way that BMW choses to relieve you of about £200 for a full on geometry check. It's expensive, but I've had two cars done like this in the past and the difference has been incredible. I guess it depends how far out of spec the car is in the first instance. May be worth trying to get it done 50:50 under warranty?

Scrappy, thanks for the kind words. It's actually getting better with each layer of wax, so I may have to take some more pics in a couple of weeks time.

This could be an old chestnut Dave... I have been chasing this symptom hard on my E39 with only limited success. See :

forum.bmw5.co.uk :: View topic - Judder/Shimmer at 60 ish - old chestnut?

So that's 4 new tyres, about 5 wheel balances, £350 on susp components and new disks fitted with only limited success - my hand shakes slightly at 85 [and no it isnt the booze!] and I feel slight judder through the seat of my pants
