My 535d Sport
Thought you lot, especially Audilover, would appreciate pics of my new beastie. LOL Where do I start? I bought my 535d 2 weeks ago. The car had been a company vehicle for the first 22 months of its life and had clearly not been pampered. The paintwork was like sandpaper and the wheels were black.
I've spent about 4 whole days getting the car to the condition you see in the pics. The odd thing is that the interior is almost like new. Slightly bizarre given the prior state of the exterior.
Anyway, I've cleaned and clay'd and waxed the paint and taken the wheels off to paint the calipers and clean the insides of the alloys. Essentially, without a professional detail with porter cable etc, it's about as close as I can get it to as new.
All the best
Matt

You ought to enter the first pic into the Photo Comp this month
Back to an anonymous coloured one again... presumably because I actually, for once, spotted you in the red 330
Looking good though. Really good. Will have to meet up for an ale, now the weather seems to be finally calming down!

Hi All,
Yup, the car is carbon black with black interior. It has the media and visibility pack with adaptive xenons, uprated hi-fi etc etc. All in all, a very nice place to be. I'd certainly be tempted by a DMS upgrade, but at almost £1k it's a little steep IMHO. Still, you get what you pay for.
The grunt on tap is fantastic, and I imagine that in the 3 series this engine is an absolute belter.
Deep, I'm averaging 37mpg at the moment, but I don't have the fantastic V10 soundtrack. I guess that's my compromise.
Pete, I'm up for an ale whenever you are...
Cheers

Very nice get some 19"s on it!!!
"Now i'm going to say something very strange"
When i see a 535d i think what a great looking car, then i see an M5 and think, its ok, the 535d looks better. I've really gone off the M5 lately, going more towards the M6.

Those are the standard 18's. Scott is right, the car really needs the 19's that are an option on the E60's. I've been looking for a set but have so far drawn a blank. The 19's also get normal tyres instead of the run flats, so that's got to be a good thing.
It's not got HUD, but I've driven one with HUD and it's great.
Cheers

Nice pics by the way. Been thinking about a round trip to polished bliss to get my scoob done. Tend to find dark colours seem to get dirty so quickly though...

Mine's got the central reservation proximity magnet. It just seems to force me to drive in the outside lane at all times!
Black is a nightmare to keep clean. I wouldn't recommend it to you if you don't enjoy wahsing the car a couple of times a week

The 535d is a superb car, a real real world supercar in my eyes...
My 525d sport is pretty amazing as an ownership prospect.....who knows I may end up with a 535d sport!
Ive heard (on other forums ) that they are heavy on fuel around town, like about 18mpg..is this true?

LOL
In response to the questions...
The car can be heavy on fuel around town. Think more mid twenties than high teens. On the motorway (in the oustide lane, of course) it'll cruise at 45mpg ish. My average has been 39mpg and 37mpg on the last two tanks. That's properly worked out and not the OBC figure.
I've had an M3 in the past and to be honest prefered my 330d. The 535d just moves that affirmation on a little bit.
The only downside for me is that BMW don't do a manual twin turbo diesel. I'd love a manual 335d, but would have the 5 as an auto anyway. Manual 5 series' are depreciation disasters!
Now where's that number for DMS.........................
