Gary,

quote "I'm not saying BMs are faultless, far from it, but my 330d (and every 330i/d I know about) has been fault-free." well that's not quite true - all the 330i owners that I know of have broken down - including mine.

The cars before late summer had a fault in the cooling fan and there was a recall (although I never received mine ) that caused it to fail and the engine to overheat. Mine let go on the M25 in a particularly awful traffic jam - my next door neighbours went the week before mine and two at work went the week after.

Bloody annoying, and no understanding of what serious overheating will do to a still fairly tight higher performance alloy engine!

Also my previous 323 Coupe had numerous, and I mean numerous faults - which led me to think I would never own another BMW - however I do love the 330 CI it is a great drive.

PS In three years of Scooby ownership I have had three faults - two self-inflicted - knackered turbo due to HKS filter, broken oil spreader ring in gearbox on a track day and my rear wiper motor has an annoying squeak.

Not bad for a car that has been tuned and serviced by my fair hands!
