Civil court simply means they believe you may have a claim against the third party. Anyone can start civil proceedings simply and cheaply without even involving legal representation. I claimed back 750 that I leant to someone and they never repaid. I didn't have to go to court, have a solicitor etc. Very simple process if you just want your money back and aren't claiming for additional compensation (stress, loss of earnings etc).

It doesn't sound like the police are pressing criminal charges from what you say so far. In what way was the car unsafe and is it possible that the seller didn't realise. A 'Death trap' could mean something like a bulge in the inside of a tyre which could certainly go undetected by a seller.

Could you give an outline of the transaction? It may be worth persuing.
How many cases have you 'persued' in the past?

I met a lad off here who was selling his scooby, he said for me to meet him at a pub to complete the deal. I met him in the car park and checked his car over and it was a good un, i haggled with him and handed over the 16k.

He said he would be back in about 10 mins as he just needed to nip home and count the cash so i said fair enough, the robbin git never came back.

As others have already said, if you are going to buy off this site, it is best practice to look at the sellers number of posts, content of posts and time as a member, to establish if they are a muppet or not.

I can't understand how buying a dog of a car is a matter for plod

I think i read somewhere that P.T Barnum also said "Beware of posters that take wind ups seriously as they are generally people that thought they were intelligent but after being fooked off by mensa for their severe lack of intelligence they then took out their frustrations on forums in trying to be clever at a far lower level"

If that ever happened to anyone ever then that would be the funniest thing ever. Ever.
