Nah...too heavy with all those stickers.

The is another Cossie that did a B meeting in 2007, silver/grey and that did look the business. Utterly roached-out and on slicks. Havn't seen him before or since.

Rob: Wheel well is the most obvious thing to come out. Another 2 Kg maybe.

This burgundy Sapphire Cosworth did 60.99 on his first visit to Loton in 2007 (running in over 2000cc roadgoing/1 A tyres) - very sorted machine.

It is running 500+bhp so I was told, which is where it must have found the time because it looked like a right pig in the corners compared to your car, the body roll was insane.

That is not the one I was thinking of, but 60.99 is rather good for starters?!

I thought I was the only one to leave their car alone over winter John...

Maybe I can get mine to a better spec for 2009

Nice clean car mate, very similar to mine before I started ripping it to pieces.

Blackadder I assume, will you be in the midland champs this year as Graham mentions above?

Rob.

Hi Rob

Thanks for the comment on the car.
As for me entering the Midland championship ? entry form/fee sent off today

I intend leaving the car pretty much standard for this "learning" year, so no ripping it to pieces for me

You must have your cage and harness etc. as the midland is only national 'A' meetings, do you have your A licecnce yet?

As Graham said I'm not aware that the regs are even out yet, are we talking baout the same championship? Or possibly the midland speed or sprint champs which are B events requiring no cage.

The Midland and Leaders regs are on my table today Rob.

£110 in registration fees!

The hillclimb season is revving up..to spending money!

Will you be doing the Leaders or will you leave us alone!

I won't be doing the leaders, a lot of the courses are too far away requiring a 4 day weekend to attend which I simply cannot take the time off from work for, so I would not be able to compete no matter how well I did in the rounds I could drive due to so few attendances overall. I will have a look at the regs when I get home (working away at the moment) but I doubt it will change anything.

Midland champs is the priority then need to sit down and plan out the rest of the events. I want to drive Harewood, Barbon and Epynt this season on top of the usual 3 hill tracks, apart from the shenstone club practice at curb' in march I won't be doing any sprinting at all.

I want to watch/support Pete and Zen in as many time attack events as possible as well so that is something I will be taking into consideration also.

Should have bought mine though and saved yourself a fortune on future mods

Yep, spot on Rob, I meant the Midland Speed/Sprint Championship.
I wanted to do the likes of Prescott, Shelsey and Loton in something reasonably "sensible" and thus learn the hills rather than trying to learn a car and the hills.
No point diving in the deep end when you've not learned how to swim
(hence the no mods approach at the moment)

Martin, I saw your car on PH and seriously considered it, however mine cost half the price and if kept standard will hopefully be easier to sell on in the future.

As this is a "learning" year, I specifically wanted something cheap(ish) and standard that would allow me to use it without having to worry about fettling it before, during or after every event (not that I'm suggesting your car would need such fettling you understand)

At £11K wouldn't you be better off taking the parts off your car and selling them seperately ? or is that too much aggro ?

I hillclimbed my Sti V3 stock except for a cage for a few meetings.

Soon changed my mind....

Good luck though. I know someone else doing the exact same thing though he is a real demon on the hills as he knows them so very well.
He sure is enjoying it, cheap. easy, comfortable....

I fully appreciate the saving you have made and the selling on thing (mine will probably still be for sale for next season!!!)

But I wanted to make sure mine was safe to blat up the hills in, hence all the proper stuff - cage, seats on bars, harnesses. And that it would handle well - suspension, arb's etc.

Then when my engine blew, the forged 2.5 went in.

Anyway, you've read the spec!

When I started I couldn't find one 'ready done' so had to do it the expensive way. Whoever buys mine (please!) will be saving a lot in time and money and all the bits are nearly new! - sales pitch over!

Have fun, I know you will.

ps. Wanna do a PX???!!!!!!!!!!!

pps. I would take the parts off, but don't have original seats or suspension.

Some more to come from that door Rob as I think you know. (x4 too)

Be sure to roll the edges somehow for safety.

Just been out in mine (to the tip and back...) and it sure feels quick in the cool air, forgotten how fast a smimmering Impreza is. Yours will be a blast!

Is the tank heavy?

Perhaps you quick ones should have a Doune Raid to shake the Scotsmen up a touch? (might wish I hadn't said that..)

Door is a work in progress, more to come out. The reason it has gone in is so the carriers can be welded in place when on the car to ensure they are sealed, I will post some more photos of the finished article at the weekend.

I have a drivers carbon door card to protect from sharp edges, the others don't matter at all.

I won't know about the tank until the weekend as I'm still in Leeds, it's just as much about the amount of fuel I had to carry on the OEM tank to avoid fuel starvation (over 3/4's at Prescott, over 1/2 generaly) as about the saving of the tank itself.

There is about as much chance of us raiding Doune as them raiding Loton, so not a lot I reckon. You can't compare slicks and 1B's they use up there either.

Ah! Forgot about the tyre differences....
Found a nice cheap set of Kumhos for the Sti for the one race it will do this year.
John gets down to Elvington once a year, and Loton is not that much further.
About 5 weeks to Practice weekend.

When are the dates, my plan this year is not to chase the Scottish to hard this year as I want to do a few other things, would I get an entry at Loton, is it over subscribed ?
I think I may well be at Elvington twice this year

Any 'Incar' of Loton ?

I will send you the Loton stuff John.

On 1 B's you would be in Robs/Pete's and the Audi V8 class etc. They will all be on slicks. Any tyre is ok.

We run 9 meetings in the season at Loton so lots of dates.
Entries are ballistic and it is NOT first come first served. Some meetings we refuse as many as those that get an entry. The entry is about 120 drivers.
