Read this whole thread from start to finish yesterday afternoon/evening, save the last few entries.
Very well done to all who took part in the season, and fantastic write ups of all the events.
I'll be keeping an eye on this thread in the coming year.
I bet Pavlo's car was fun to drive

Zen car was fun, absolutely insane, but fun.
Paddy from Home - Emerald Detailing came round today and used some of his wonder products on my desperate engine bay and bonnet, the diference is unreal.

Seen the vid last year, a Radical type car iirc.
Stunning speed in-out-through the bends and what accelleration!
almost seems a video game it is so quick. Takes a bit of time keeping up with it all (for me anyway..)
Just looked at the link.
Once he has a unit he is on a winner, but a 40 mile radius is useful too!

Hi all. My names Francis, but most people call me paddy, and im the one who sorted out robs engine bay. It took the best part of 3 hours to do it to the level you see in the pics.
I first washed sprayed it with various de-greasers and scrubbed at it with a brush and wash mitt, which got most of the surface dirt and grime off. This was ok, but the paint itself was stained and in the end i had to use a polish that is normally used with a machine to get the paint in the engine bay and bonnet clean. All the work was done by hand, which took a beating, but the end results are worth it.
Like rob said, i'll be sponsoring him this season, so it'll be my job to keep his car looking pretty. (You cant really represent your sponsors that well if your car looks like a bag of **** now can you). Though rob might be going for a full wrap, we shall see. I'll also be doing pete"s car(if there is any paint left after all the stickers have been put on) and i'll see what i can do with mick"s too.
Going to clean and protect robs wheels next, so all the brake dust wont get welded to it. This is something, everyone can do and will save alot of time and effort in the long run.
Go to www.cleanandshiney.co.uk and buy a tin of Collinite 476S Super Double Coat Wax. Its only 15.49 and a few coats of that should protect the wheels for nearly the whole season. A couple of coats on the paint and it will last over 6 months. Its not normally the sort of wax i use, but it offers very good protection.
Some of you may see me out at with rob or pete at one of the races, so if you do, come say hi. Oh, as you can see, my site isnt finished yet. Ive been too busy, but i'll have it sorted soon.

Paddy, you obviously did a great job on Robs bay. Looks resprayed from the pics!
My underbonnet on my Impreza is just like Rob's was and i hoped you had access to a simple spray-on wash agent like Muck-off used on bikes etc. but not so!
Rob's car will look as well as it will go in 2008!
I am sure that will be some opportunities in hillclimbing for you!

cheers 911. Ive been to shellsley a few times to watch them and had a go in robs car before it went on this mad diet. It was rapid then, but its going to be silly quick once all the work is done. My aim with sponsoring rob etc, is that im hoping other racers will see my website on his car and how good it looks and then call me to do theirs or their road cars.
What i do isn't valeting, there is much more involved in the process, so its not cheap.
If people want to keep on top of their wheels, i would get the wax i mentioned. Give the wheels a good clean inside and out, put a couple of layers of the wax on and your all set.

Quick post to update on my car, slowy but surely getting there, car is stripped and ready for the custom cages weld in cage, fuel tank is out ready for the fuel cell in the boot, bottom end is built, first door has been cut out as a trial door which went well, just needs to be cleaned and then repainted on the inside, dash board has been flocked and is ready to go in after cage, wrc front heated screen turns up monday and will be fitted with the rest of the lexan polycarbonate glass which arrived a few weeks ago. Roll cage arrives in 2 weeks and is being fitted straight away.

Not going to be all that impressive graham as we are bolting a massive turbo on for time attack its not going to be the right set up for the hills. Going for the crack really, shelsley is the only place it will go much quicker!
Car is coming along well Pete, they are really shifting on the build now! It's going to be insanely good.
I know what you mean Graham, to roach out such a nice car seems wrong, but we are racing and John Stevenson said something to me which stuck in my mind, you just have to treat the shell as just another component, which is very true!
Progress on my car has been a bit slow as I have been working away from home the past few weeks but I have been rounding up all the bits I need to bring it to a finish and almost have everything on my list.
I put another coat of paint on the shell and it looks pretty good, it will never win a show and shine competition but it's a race car so it doesn't really matter and after seeing the autosportif impreza car at the autosport show it looks positively professional.

My dash is back from being flocked at CBC Services - CBC Services . It looks great and the finish is excellent.

Boot has gone along with all the hinges latches springs etc. to be replaced with a spoilerless fibreglass one on clips, this will be a really good weight saving. Ally RA boot lid was 10kgs, hinges springs etc 4kgs and spoiler 4 kgs, the fibreglass bootlid is around 5kgs but Blademaster who I am getting it from as part of our ongoing swap shop of parts thinks a lot of the strengthening can be cut out of the fibreglass lid to reduce the weight even more. So just around the boot about 13kgs saved!

I have got some tein strut braces to replace the oem ones, the rear tein item is considerably lighter than the oem one and is also adjustable, I have left the front one off for the moment to make life easier for the engine install.

I'm taking my car over to my friends garage next saturday to remove the fuel tank and gut out the rest of the doors, he is really happy with how the test door went and apparently it is considerably lighter, I will take the scales up when I go to do a before and after. Then it's just refitting the dash etc. and the bits and pieces I have gathered together and off to Zen for my new engine!

Great progress Rob.
Are you bothering with keeping it 'roadable' ie lights etc?
So far as I know:
1 x Audi
1 x EVO
4 White Impreza's (non mine)
1 x Sierra Cossie I think. (yellow)
The 911 only needs brake pads and Kumho's and it's done.

I spoke to a guy recently with a very high spec roached out 500+ bhp evo 5 RS that intends to do the midland this year, who are the other 2 imprezas? Geoff T, myself and?
Is it the 'scooby slayer' cosworth that is often parked at loton?
Yes to the Cossie.
Impreza: You/Geoff/Blackadder + another who told me last year at several meetings he was going to do the Midland. Mystery to me though. Type R iirc.
Your rear lights are worth a bob or two I think.

Unless I have missed anything blatantly obvious weight wise in which case tell me!
I kept all the bits and pieces in a big box like you said and your right, I can no longer pick it up.
Anything happening with your car this winter John, Pics?
Not going to bother roadable, it's gone too far now the racing tank capacity probably wouldn't get me to the end of the driveway. I have an idea for the front lights stolen from the Dialynx SWB quattro's.

Richard
Nah...too heavy with all those stickers.
The is another Cossie that did a B meeting in 2007, silver/grey and that did look the business. Utterly roached-out and on slicks. Havn't seen him before or since.
Rob: Wheel well is the most obvious thing to come out. Another 2 Kg maybe.
