Heres how fast a quarter of a million £'s gets you up Shelsley in a 'Ford' Puma, 28.06, 100mph ess approach, 117mph finish speed.

The Puma is simply a sports Libre car and should be fast with the spec it has and the investment.
A superb piece of hillclimb machinary well driven too.
The AUDI is a different car, and far more equal to Tom Hammond's SWB Quattro which I think also ran in Sports Libre (it was a long time ago that it ran)
I think the V8 is a more remarkable performance than the Puma personally and will sweep all before it who is in the class at present.
If we can't beat them, join them.
You need a fully stripped, caged, plastic door'd, 500+ bhp lightweight car with 4 x 4 and a set of good slicks.
Graham.

joining them requires massive £££££££££'s, making our cheap scoob's go as fast as we do is just as impressive a feat as wading in with your cheque book and dominating, I must admit though I would most definately rather be in the £££££££ club and dominate, but that is not going to happen anytime soon, I have bought a socket set though so who knows what the winter will bring, probably lots & lots of parts on the garage floor and me looking very confused.
It IS a very long haul and that's from my house let alone your new Ranch.
Racing against a Darrian will be a challenge...Don't they have Cossie turbo's and 400Kg to use? And its from Ireland.
i have never seen a slow car from Ireland!
I hope to keep you 2 within 2 secs of me this weekend. A Personal goal!

Sorely tempted. Especially with a full race Bevan in the garage. Although a 1300 gixer would be nice.....

Was looking at the shelsley promo vid last night. Sod the puma, i'd rather have a shot of Grove's Predator. And you might even get a bit of spare change! Amazing, just amazing.
Glad to see the enthusiasm is back Graham!
Rob - All you need is some masking tape, a pen, lots of electrical conections, let sit for 4 months over winter then figure out what the blue spodges on the tape sitting on the ground are meant to mean. Now thats confusing.

That is a very nice list of entries, and well done to you all in Wales to getting this off the ground.
I personally know what it takes!
The Darrian won't know what's hit him when i blast off the start line at 7000 rpm.....
It might rain. I like hillclimbing in the soaking wet! (actually I do)
Out of that lot I'm looking forward to the Old Skool stuff, the Anglia etc.
Getting excited!

When you're there Graham can you do me a favour and ask Kev Cole if he's using a rawlson spaceframe?
Take it the Darrians rwd cossie powered. You should come out alright if it rains then!

Rob and I had another ding dong battle, i just pipped him to 2nd in class (think his brakes where having to deal with more pace and heat, and not working) here is a vid, will type more when ive slept! im shagged!

A good hot weekend in the national 'A' at Loton Park.
Practice went ok, average times and 1 continuing problem which was costing me time evry run. I have had the geometry problem at the rear of the car sorted since my last visit here and it just flys round the corners no fuss no hassle, problem was I was arriving at the top of cedar straight with lots more mph's on board and couldn't seem to stop the thing, locking up or running wide due to not being able to scrub enough speed off, it was a strange transition to make going from trying to push more up the stratight to trying to figure out where to stop pushing to give my self a chance of stopping in the small level braking area into fallow corner.
After camping for the first time in my life at the race to avoid the 100+ mile journey home or the cost of the nearest hotel that isn't full, I was ready I thought to get stuck in, first run I just wanted a clean run no smoking tyres locking up grassy detours of practice day and that's what I got a no frills run with coasting, early braking anf lots of other un-race like behaviour, I seem to be unable to seperate smooth from slow and posted a 58.04 which considering the times I have churned out at Loton was poor, but I had my run in and had put some space between myself and the pack albeit almost a second behind Pete, so I could push in the afternoon and it not matter too much if I made a mistake.
Final run I was well up for it and got a fyer 1.87 launch and arrived a the frist split time at triangle in a PB and seriously rapid 22.03 setting me up for a serious run I thought, but not on the gas early enough out of keepers and letting off early to make sure i could stop into fallow corner at the end of the straight which I had struggled to do all weekend cost me time and I posted a very average 57.17, almost half a second slower that my PB and not near enough to Pete's 56.83 giving me 3rd place, Frustrating stuff.
I think now with the power, handling, tyres the car is out growing the gold Brembo's with their worn out standard pads, at Loton at least. Watching Pete stop in a third of the distance I can in his videos in a heavier car with his mega AP's, thus being able to give it all kinds of hell on the straight I dare not, is annoying and gets me thinking of selling vital organs on the black market to fund some serious stoppers to match the serious performance that the car has now.
Had a great weekend though and can't wait to get back in the saddle for Prescott in a fortnight where I have loads to prove as I sucked last time out.
I would like to thank Paul at Zen Performance for squeezing my car in his busy schedule last week to fit my new drain to sump Catch Can which has solved all my problems and got the car running like a dream. I have pics of it all but my PC doesnt like my new camera phone so that will have to wait.
My record breaking run last time at Loton, some power slide action out of Keepers corner

Roof top video of my final competetive run, 1.87 launch, 22.03 triangle split, 57.17 finish time.

Love the roof-top vid Rob! Would love to do something similar at Epynt but don't have any kit like that. I'm a bit concerned my new pads will not be up to the job at Burma Junction (100+mph down to 1st/2nd gear corner !!) so will have to take it easy for the first couple of runs.
What was your best time of the weekend Graham?
What was your best time of the weekend Graham?
I've driven classic scoob's with both the sti set up (type r) and the newage brembo conversion. Opinion from myself, and a couple of others, was the sti brakes, with uprated pads, were better than the brembos......and less reciprocating weight to boot! Speak to Paul about the stoptechs. Managed to get myself a set on fleabay of all places from a p1 owner that lost his licence for speeding.lol. (£650!!!) Brakes are superb and a few quid cheaper than the AP's. Not sure about the weight difference though.......
Which reminds me, what sort of compound pads are fitted to the stoptechs as std Paul? And what are the options? Obviously looking for oodles of bite when cold.....

Maybe you should pay more attention when watching telly... I'm fairly certain Martin would be surprised to find he wasn't driving a Gould !!!!
Oh right, my mistake, i've been mislead by the video title then. "GWR v10 predator". Either way, i reckon its quite an impressive feat getting them up the hill as quick as they do....
Hows the neetronics getting on?? Spoke to Andy the other day about getting it upgraded from .07 to .08. $60 so no question. See there's an importer selling them for near £400 on fleabay! Cant remember rightly but dont think i paid anywhere near that...

I'm told GWJr is running the V10 at Doune this weekend?
That is such an interesting vid of Loton rob.
I can honestly say you do nothing different to me except it accellerates faster!

I think due to my power advantage I have a fair few more mph's to knock off into fallow than you and the brakes just didnt seem up to it this weekend, there seemed a razor thin line between no braking and locking up, which is no use, they are pretty good stoppers but I think they are getting a bit tired now. Paul has some good, cheap ideas to get them back upto scratch over the next fortnight before Prescott though.
Watch Pete's in car vid of the weekend and look at the space he can stop in and subsequently the speed he can carry on the approach to fallow on his 362mm 6 pot front ap's 303mm 4 pot rears, it's serious stuff, chalk and cheese compared to us.

Some pics from the weekend;
My new drain to sump catch can courtesy of Paul at Zen Performance, great bit of kit and has solved all my problems, thanks again mate!

Pete and I in the pits, Pete with his freshly stripped out car, he got an amazing 7 stone in weight out of just the interior, so a nice boost to the power to weight ratio, note in the photo Keith Edwards of SWB Audi fame setting up his new IC water spray

The reason the records are tumbling, Roger Banks A4's 4.2 twin turbo engine.

Roger Moran who took both top 12 shoot outs in style, great to watch and stupidly quick.

Inside the Puma of Mike Endean, auto-motive art work and might give you some idea where all that money went. Powered him to another closed roof record this weekend.

My humble abode for the weekend, I planned to crash in my van but it was too hot so i used my dads pop up 1 man tent, glamourous it wasn't, comfy it was.
