CS LAN Game - When/Where?

Dizzy,
bad news. I'm nowhere near you. I live near Northampton. If no one can pick you up, how about catching the train?? Someone or I can pick you up from the station. You can probably get away with just carrying your base unit up as there most likely be some spare monitors about.

First time I've actually read this thread as I thought it was happening over Xmas when I was in Ireland
However, I failed add in SNDT to the calculations (Scoobynet Delay Time ) & see that it is now happening this w/end & it might be poss to come along Subject to wife & health that is
So, what exactly is the timings & spec? I need to calculate the Mean Time Away From Wife & Child At A Weekend & work out whether I'll be able to swing it or what penalties need be paid or money spent.
PC wise, I'm sure the one I currently have will be OK. Presume we need k/board, mice & monitors too? NIC I have but a 10Mbit only - is that OK? Can u/grade if necessary. Also what protocol? Currently IP only, do we need ipx or other?
So many questions that are probably answered somewhere in the 160+ posts of this thread (most of which say "corner" ).
Would either come over in PTMW! or poss the Mini (as the battery in PTMW! is undoubtedly flat & PTMW! is filthy ) or poss cadge a lift off Deano (or v/versa).
Fingers crossed

Puff,
I think Deano would be able to answer the MTAFW&C problem. The NIC is no problem, I doubt you would use all that bandwidth with cs etc...
I think we are meeting in MK about 9-10am on Sunday. Not sure how long we are planning to play for. You could always bring the other ½ and kid and drop them off for shopping etc...

Puff,
10mb Nic will be fine, LAN will be 10/100 (IP only) that is 10 for you lot and 100 for me and the server.
Plan is to meet up about just before 10 in Milton Keynes (I'll mail the directions RR sent us). Finish when you want really.
I can easily pick you up if reqd on the way over.(I would need directions to the dragons lair, but its not too far off the A14?). As I'm bringing the server and switch that may limit how early you could nip off though
As its a Sunday and theres school the next day (and Wife pressure) I envisage leaving late afternoon/early evening ish - dont know if anyone had any thoughts on that ?
Dizzy - Sorry Reading a bit of a long way round and Puffs nearer me than you so prob not much help there
Deano

Hi Guys
I have tried to get a clear answer from the two muppets who were interested in adding to the numbers. They are not willing to commit themselves so sod em . Though the m8 in MK said he would call round and check out the mess we will no doubt create .
Steve stop cornering and get your ISDN *** up here for the day. Tell the Mrs you have some important work to sort out .
If the LAN session works out ok how about making it a monthly meet. Good way of sorting out team tactics etc.
Looking forward to this session big style.

Me too.. not long now.
If this ones a success and we don't leave the office like the T's have just detonated C4 in it, maybe we can use the offices again
Whatever the location, I'm sure this won't be the last. Maybe we can take a convoy down to the BBQ king when the summer arrives?

I believe there were a couple of desks spare. I'll let Roady confirm this when he gets home though.
You'll need..
Computer (with network card)
Monitor
Soft drink
Money for pizza/keebab/salad
Matt
P.S. Who here has actually had LAN session experience? The last time I played on a LAN was way back when Quake was released! I'm guessing the 0 ping will take some getting used to? Although, those lucky ones with cable modems that work properly might not notice too much of a difference

Puff - You coming then ? - need a lift ?
In the test-bed - OK - my study It looks like we should have about a 13-17 Ping. Been WFH today so installed admin mod Now I can slap people
Actually been experimenting with PC and laptop next to each other running off the server and the delay between them is quite marked sometimes. Makes it easier to understand the dodgy kills when you're sure they couldn't get you.

Ive had LAN experience quite a few times and it beats modem playing hands down! I'll be bringing:
My PC (P3 733 + 512MB RAM + 10/100MB Net + 19" Monitor)
An assortment of CAT5 cables
Do I need a chair?
I also might be able to grab a 24 port 10/100 Switch from work as I have to come in on Sat to bring our new domain up....Win 2000 on my own along with Citrix ahhhhhh! So could sneak it out leaving the box here and bring it in on Monday? Let me know.
Where is the office?
Geoff

Got an AIP (Agrement In Principal) from wifey Offered her the shopping @ MK option but she wasn't too keen (6 hrs with sprog attached). Went for the "on her own time-free, sprog-free" option on Saturday This is gonna cost me big bucks So take it that I'm going to be there
Transport. A lift would be great or if the extra space needed, we can swap to PTMW! Easy either way. I'll email you a postcode & identifier & if you can let me know a time to be sitting patiently by the door...

We have one 24 port 10/100 switch and my home 24 port 10meg/2 port 100meg switch. Another certainly wouldn't hurt as I dont know how spread out we're going to be.
Shall I set MRTG up so we can monitor all our B/W utilistion through the day - I'll get my coat
