CS LAN Game - When/Where?

I'll definitely fit Mike in somewhere Let me know for certain Mike if your coming?
I was planning on walking to JDW and didn't fancy standing around in the cold before the first victim turns up Suppose I'll drive there now
Address for Wetherspoons is
201 Midsummer Boulevard
MK91E
I've checked streetmap and it isn't showing the exact location. So use this link for reference http://www.streetmap.co.uk/streetmap...&arrow=y?48,45
It very easy to find, apart from a silver subrua that will be sitting outside JDW is located in just 1/2 mile up from the Central Milton Keynes Train Station. Nearer the date I'll email very one my mobile number just in case you get lost.
Apart from maybe Deano, who doesn't know Milton Keynes. If need be I'll give directions from the M1 Jct14 Motorway.

Love the Milton Keynes Directions
The street map url should be enough. Whilst not a local I've done a couple of jobs in Milton Keynes,. I also left the best part of £300 worth of pirelli tyres streaked all over the roundabouts after a visit in my old civic vti when I was trying to keep up with a mate in a Jap Import MX5 - it was lowered with complete suspension change - felt like it had been nicked straight from a kart - not 1 degree of body roll no matter how hard you went at the roundabaouts. Scariest MX5 I've ever driven or followed.

Has any one played the Team Fortress games? I had a quick look last night and they look like fun. Basically two teams who have diferent player types (snipper, demolotion etc) and some diferent game types (capture the flag etc). Looks like it could be fun. I'm not sure if you have this with the Half-Life mod of CS or if it's just on the retail. I'll bring it along anyway...

TFC comes included in the half-life patches so everyone will already have it
I used to play TFC when CS was still at beta 5 stage. Haven't played it for ages though as I now prefer CS.
It can get a little manic and does suit larger teams more than our expected 4 vs 4 but for a change of pace and a break from CS it may prove entertaining
RR, I can't be bothered to drive, can you fly me over in your plane?

Server is built complete with Stats Also have some bots installed (for testing). Depending on whether the server can hack it we may be able to do [STi] vs Bots (Ping starts to go up at the moment with Me + 15 Bots). They're surprisingly good (especially with max skill). Instant headshots . They even chat to each other - See how the person at the top of the scoresheets is istantly branded a Cheat by the other Bots
Server is Dual 200Pro at the Mo. Still hoping to get a Dual 700 P3 just beforehand. It shouldnt take too long just to copy some of the config and files over.
At home until Monday so I'm going to install and check UT Server is OK. Just been out and bought RTCW so will investigate running that as a server aswell.
I've tried TFC but dont really egt on with the soldier types. See if I change my mind after RTCW.

Dizzy,
I have 512 NTL cable. I connect via network card and have anything from 20 - 100ms depending on server. Average about 40-50. I hit 20ms around 2am connecting to any uk based servers.

Deano, how do I tell the Cable modem to go at the right speed?
I've told the nic card to run at 10 half duplex easily enough but I'm unsure
how to tell the CM to do the same? or is it the default setting?

ahhh good o
had MAJOR F**Kin problems gettin Win2k to work via the usb.. I detected the usb part put the network card part appears the the ! saying not workin properly and when I reinstall the drivers it says there is a part missing from the inf file for this device tried deleting it loads and reinstalling as well as trying to tell it its a modem normally appears as a newtork card icon saying (NDIS5)
ahh well.. trying it with the network card tonight.. should be a better ping with that anyway.

matt - if you can provide your own crash helmet and sign a disclaimer then I might consider it
dizzy - if you can handle 1000's of roundabout then you won't get lost m8
Also matt this is a silly question, but u are using a cross-over cable between your modem and nic? if you are, are you getting a link light on the nic card/modem. Is it just a pinging problem? If all else fails ask HHxx for a refund

RR, maybe I'll give the flight a miss for a few months
As for the cable modem, I'm connecting it to the nic using the cat5 cable that came with the modem so I presume it's the correct one? I've also tried a spare one of my mates. The "PC" light comes on on the front of the CM when I switch the PC on and remains so till I switch the PC off.
I'm beginning to think it's either my computer or the nic card. Maybe I damaged it on the way home from the meet?

matt - sounds like you have the correct cable.
u running win2k right? is your local area connection showing a connection either in your system tray or in the properties of network places? have you assigned your PCs IP address to your CM address scheme. The CM uses 192.168.0.1 255.255.255.0 as it default address. Are you also running OS drivers or have you downloaded the manufactures drviers for the nic?

RR, You are correct, I'm using w2k. I'm just using the OS drivers for the card cause thats what H told me would be ok.
I get the Local Area Connection in the network window but it just says Network cable unplugged?
As for IP address & subnet, I've just told the PC to obtain them automatically as the CM manual doesn't say anything about doing otherwise.
