From: 1600cc's of twin scroll fun :)
and it was running its standard JDM map also
New age JDM's are very resticted with the standard filter in, hence the STi part and also why its a Jap domestic market performance upgrade (like the GeNome exhaust back box for example
)Tony
ive just recently got the green panel filter 4 my wrx could not tell any difference not that i was expecting any with the change, most companies will tell u to put some sort of aftermarket filter on they r a business after all.but my car must be alot happier with the new filter on so go 4 it, if u want more noise go 4 a cone filter
I would say that nothing beats a pleated paper filter for filtration performance. I would worry about aftermarket 'performance' and possibly low filtration filters.
I think you got it right first time Elmer.
The results were not what I expected but I had done the testing carefully and was confident about this. Because the results were not as expected, I repeated the tests next day in a different running order, not that that should have made any difference. I was surprised to get the same figures second time around.
It was nice of Mike Wood to come on and say my findings were generally in line with Prodrives which I knew nothing of at the time. It stopped experts or spiv salesmen with a vested interest, telling us that a particular panel filter would add loads of power.
I have done subsequent tests and conclude that the filtration from the O/E Subaru, K+N oiled panel and STi are excellent. The best performer had the worst filtration and the O/E Subaru was the second best performer. If I were to run other than O/E Subaru it would be K+N but only because it is reusable. The disposable STi is an expensive option for no power gain.
Subsequent tests lead me to believe that at 350 bhp on a Classic and perhaps even more, the O/E air box is not a restriction and may be a better option than a cone. A similar figure on a New Age seems to be nearer 400bhp but these tests are not fully completed.
