Default Would anybody able to help me out with wiring a wrx?

hi all,

i am stuck in a rut all confused and pulling my hair out, the problem is that i have done a engine and loom swap from a 98 wrx into a 95, the thing is i have put the loom in and as far as i can see we are all plugged in, the fuse box is all in order ,as the are all differnt connectors and will only go in one way, so ive one to turn the key and there is nothing, not even turning the starter over but i can here a relay click, ive bridged the starter from the battery and it turns over but there doesnt seem to no power coming from the ignition to the starter?? i had the complete doner car and it was running perfect. the only difference is that the doner car was a automatic and i have swapped it with a manual gearbox, would this affect the ecu in any way? has anybody has this problem? or is there a specialist that i can turn to? as im really wanting the car to start

i will be very gratefull for any info

chris

are you using the ecu and loom from the auto motor if so is there a feed there to say its in gear or not which may be stopping it from starting just a thought, as not got much experience of auto subaru`s.

yes i have used the ecu and loom from the auto, im not to sure if there is wires that would tell if the car is in gear or not, it could be a possibilty that you could be right. ive never had a auto car before so i wouldnt know. i do know that there is 2 blocks of wires on the loom which would have gone to the auto box but i was told it wouldnt afect the car from them not being plugged in but then i have also been told it would affect it

it could well effect it! to be honest mate the best thing you could do is a search for the ecu pin-outs and see which wire does what there may well be a wire which go`s to earth or live to tell the ecu the car is safe to start

i think that is a good idea thanks gaz. i will then know for myself instead of having two sides of a story, i would imagine the ecu pin out points would be in the wiring diagram section on a car manual somewhere? it just finding a manual?

would a diagnostics kit be any good do you reakon?

thanks for your help
