My eucalyptus tree (about 25ft high) has snapped off at ground level and is currently crushing all my other shrubs! I would have though it would have faired a bit better as it always seems so flexible.

fence is now rock solid (done some serious belt and braces strengthening at my neighbours) gate back up, pinned with huge coach bolts. The Eucalyptus has lost a few branches, but probably needed a haircut anyway..

wait for the next bout of wind now...

We had a few logs from a 20ft trunk from a tree at Dad's house, they were terrible. You might be right about leaving it 2 yrs though. These weren't burnt next day, but maybe a few months after cutting. All I remember is thinking that it was supposed to be full of oil, and being thoroughly disappointed at the result.

I'm going to leave this at least three years as its clearly a different species of gum tree to the ones I'm used to. Very green and sappy look to it.

Thanks for the heads up.
