A few wheely bins missing off our street tonight (including ours), if they took a flight they would have caused a bit of damage! Looked everywhere for them!

My fence seems OK for now, but I came home early because we had a power cut at work - overhead cables and trees don't mix. (Result! )

Front fence down, pack fence panels down in our gardens....

Down the road, loads of fallen branches, some quite big Roof tiles, slate, a rubber dinghy and lots of other stuff flying about the place

Dogs have got into next door's garden with the fence being down, their plants are all wrecked as are their fish pond ornaments (due to the wind not the dogs!)

Ironically not. However, I'm started with the chainsaw this evening to add to my log collection in the hope that it will force me open up the top of the chimney where some previous muppet has sealed it up.

Probably not scaling it in these winds though.

Nothing too serious for us (just east of Nottingham), a blown over bird table (that'll stop the little ******* crapping on my car) and a bit of torn felt on the shed roof.

1 fence panel, 5 snapped fence posts

Gave the Eucalyptus tree a major hair cut 2 weeks ago after the last big storms. Its braced up big time at the moment.

Eucalyptus trees have sallow roots, hence there not a good tree to have in this country, when they fall in the wild they them re shoot where they lay. Then they re grow!!
best thing to do is keep them trimmed to a managable size bush!

my mum read this to me only last week as they have a neighbour with one that bends all over the place!!

where we are working at themo had two Eucalyptus trees blow over today!!!!

Our house has had all the glass out the green house blown out!! all over te grass

Shed roof felt missing (only the small bit down the middle)
Next doors drain pipe in my front garden.
All my wood chippings blown away (damn).
Broken fence front garden.
Broken fence side.
2 Broken fences in the back.

Strangest thing is, I picked up my front fence that had fell out and put it behind my cast iron bench against a wall to stop it blowing away.

Pick the kids up from school and my neighbour has come and put it back in and left my bench half tipped over in the front garden the flaming odd-bod.
What a weirdo.
I had only put the fence safe, he must have though I was hiding it or something, ******* hell they are strange people.
(might not seem *that* off to you but it's one of many small oddities)

Third of our verandah roof went walkabout. Nearly took off with hubby attached as we battled to store the panel in the garage .
Flippin' scarey weather.

Oh and it flipped over our outdoor table, heavy metal with glass top. Miraculously, the top didn't break !

Got home (eventually) to find no power at all in the village. It had been out since 14:00(ish). I think it came back on at around 22:00. I dunno, I'd crashed out bored by then. In the interim, I visited a pub with the neighbours and got some nosh.

Checked the shed, garden, house, fence, garage, no obvious signs of trauma. Even the wheelie bins and useless lightweight recycling box were where I'd left them.

Colleagues in work reported a number of obstacles when driving in to work, from recycling bins, to branches, trees to a metal garden shed stuck in the middle of the road.

Took me an hour to drive 5 miles home, as they had shut the A10 just before my junction. Only my estate in Ware was without power it seems, this didnt come on until 1am this morning. Oh and the felt has blown off the shed.

I can understand now, how before other diversions were invented, tv, computers, etc how come people had so many children!

I lost part of my close panelled back fence some weeks back which brought down a brick column with it. I assumed this would be covered by home insurance. But "sorry sir fences are not covered". They did pay for the collumn to be reinstated (glued back together ).

Anyone know why fences are not covered? It's a fairly comprehensive policy.

Just noticed one panel in the middle of one of the fences is down

not sure who owns the fence, so will have a look at the deeds...

might be one of the odd 1 bit of fence we actually own

My experience of burning eucalyptus says "don't bother" - an awful wood to burn, IIRC. Chop it into 4-ft lengths and leave outside the house for some other mug to take away.

my garden was destroyed by my springer spaniel puppy, however the wind yesterday did actually break the for sale sign that is up in my garden (not uprooted it, but actually broke/snapped it)

Interesting. Why do you say that? I've burnt heaps of it before and combined with almond and olive makes for a good combination. The only negative comments I've heard relate to it's potential for releasing sap into the chimney or flues but as I've only used it in countries with hot summer temperatures and given it at least a couple of years to season, that's never been a problem.

Are you alluding to my second point with English summers being cooler?

I had 90+ for most of the day, the garden was ok but was a bit worried about my Ham Radio aerials. They got away with it this time anyway thank goodness.
