Well in that case, why not fit the following:
Roll cage
Light weight seats
Light weight body panals
Light weight glass
Dog box
Semi slick tyres
traction control
2.33 conversion
TD06
Rotated inlet manifold and front
Race spec suspension
Race spec brakes
Carbon fibre prop
.................................
At the end of the day, all this is pretty pointless on a road car.
But I suppose it will make you feel more of a 'man' down the pub!

No-one's mentioned the brakes....
Doesn't positive manifold pressure mean less (or none whatever) brake servo assist? Bloke may not end up at the pub at all, let alone be able to boast about it.

It's all personal perference.
My car will be stripped out with buckets and a cage,it will be done to be a back road weapon round where I live.
If you're such a fan of the road car thing why do you drive a 4wd 140ish MPH saloon, when normal one will do?
Good point on the brakes:Wonder how you'd get around that, maybe a pump off a diesel for simliar reasons.

Batfink are you 16 yet?
you are assuming you will a) pass your test b) insure a stripped out / roll caged back lane burner. I doubt very much any insurer would go anywhere near you, unless of course you are talking about a stripped/caged 2CV?

Congratulations!
It has nothing to do with me personally, other than i thought it should be pointed out on a thread in which you wax lyrical about what is a waste or a good thing on a road car...............that you don't actually drive yet!
So you have no real references other than what you read on various car sites?

I'm not "giving it the big'un", and I've contributed more to SN than I care to think about. You have strong opinons but can't even drive a car legally, this makes me smile.

I wasn't waxing on about it mate,I just corected Chris on something he said which I do know.
I know several people on another site who have real world experiance of ALS and read their threads.
Just really annoys me the whole age thing.Just because I don't drive doesn't mean I know things about cars.

Well no one said you didn't know about cars, but there's a huge difference between knowledge and experience. I can read a book and study the technique of how Petter executes a perfect Scandinavian flick to negotiate a fast bend, but whether I could actually pull this of, given my (very) limited experience of driving a Group N rally car is highly debatable! Harvey is your man to listen to here!

Having spoke to someone I know, this is what they said.
Bearing in mind he ran ALS for three years on his car and knows other peoples cars with it.

What he has wrote is pretty correct from what ive seen, and i HAVE experience of it.
He may have no practical experience of it, but he has more of a grasp of the understanding of it than 99% of people it seems.
