No, you can get road legal anti-lag systems. I believe Prodrive have been developing one such system.

Prodrive had anti lag on the concept P2.
Sounds expensive and a waste of time for a road car imo.

why would they be illegal?

many turbo charged rally cars have anti lag fitted and unless they are transported to stages they have to drive to them and hence be road legal

sounds really good but not worth getting on puplic roads depends how much money you have and what your planning on doin in the scooby. They dont really do any good for the turbo beause when you let off the accelerator it keeps the turbo spinning which results in no lag and the popping you hear out the exhaust is excess fuel.dont think you can buy anti lag on its own its a function which can be mapped on expensive aftermarket ecu's.

On in-car footage at the end of the stage they switch many of the features off that they use on stage, I believe one of them to be the antilag system.

well think again...

You can get a GEMS ecu and enable anti-lag if you want, but if I were you I'd read a little more about how it works and the result of using it. Sounds great on a proper rally car tho

What is that other one ? cheaper than the Gems set up. They fitted it to the sti ra in Jap performance.

You could also speak to Steve Simpson re the new Simtek Ecu...Much less money than the Hydra and has much of the same features...Anti lag is a cost option @ £150 on top of the normal install and map cost...
Believe they are £995 inc vat fitted and mapped and cover 93 - 98 currently...

Ive just been reading up on antilag (as I knew nowt abot it: it appears that the added stress on teh zorst system due to the additional fuel being burnt around open valves and in teh headers etc. CAN cause failure of the exhaust after only a FEW miles!!!

basically, it'll blow itself to pieces on a road system
whereas in fact you're only meant to BLOW THE BLOODY DOORS OFF!

<always wanted to write that>

Come off the throttle another map comes in,retards igntion by 25-30 degrees.

Air will still be provided by a modded idle valve.

Ignites in the exhaust keeping the turbo spinning.

It will also shorten the life of your turbo! Not a problem on rally cars though!
