Torpid - I'd love to meet you one day and see what you're like in "real life."
You have just (in a round about way) insulted my family, choice of car and insulted the original poster.
Bet you're a meek little man hiding behind his Mum's PC.
Total cretin.
All other comment fair and reasonable.

Feel free not to post the sort of comments which can easily be construed as trolling. Your 'hard up' comment serves little purpose other than to cause trouble. People buy all sorts of cars for all sorts different reasons.
Suggest you keep your comments to the point/on topic in future

1. Impecunious
2. Tight
3. Stupid
or
4. All of the above
Thanks for the advice anyway, I'll treat it with the respect it deserves.

When do you see 'loads' at the 'ring?
Operative words being 'when' and 'you', because I visit fairly often and hardly see any MKIII's in comparison to MK II's.

If people want to construe something as 'trolling' then that's their problem not mine. The comment 'hard up' seems perfectly reasonable to me as just a couple of grand more would get something much better. It isn't my fault the person in question is either

Personally I wouldn't 'love to meet you one day' as I tend not to associate with a certain type of person (please note I've used the phrase 'certain type of person' to avoid accusations of trolling, please substitute whatever term you feel is more appropriate)

Try to ignore Torpid. He believes he is above the rest of us, and just trolls here as he believes it makes him look clever
The irony is it isn't clever at all, just makes him look like a sad little man with nothing better to do.

Torpid you appear to think you're some kind of literary genius.
You're not; you are simply an angry little man sat behind a PC upsetting what appears, in my limited experience, to be a very lively, friendly and helpful website.
I can picture exactly the sort of person you are and it's the polar opposite of the kind of person I have time for.
You have already been banned from this site and it's not in the slightest bit suprising.
And the chances of meeting you in person are slim to zero as I believe you are the sort that doesn't get out much if at all.
Awaits Torpid's attempt at being clever again...

As for allegations of trolling I believe your post here contributes nothing to the thread and could be said to be the same.

I do now there are a couple of real nice prepared Mk3 though, one used to get stored at RR.
Torpid, you should come over and say hi next time we are there at the same time. If you are a regular visitor me must have been there at the same time.

Certainly lots of Mk2's, but I don't remember seeing so many Mk3's.

Torpid, your comments would make sense if they weren't filled with such rage, **** take and anger, shame
As to the thread, GTI-6.

Are you ruling out turbo cars??
I would suggest looking for a MK 4 Golf GTi Turbo or maybe a Seat Leon/ibiza GTi or turbo variant.
3.5K should bet you a Mk4 GTi turbo and the VAG 1.8T has loads of potential.

The idea of a MKIV GTI as mentioned is a nice one as it's a MUCH better car than a MKIII, although still not great. However most at that price will be utter dogs so I'd still go for a GTI-6.

You missed a good dig there, you could have said I think I've seen your can when I overtook you . You can call people all the names under the sun and slag the mum off, but making a mockery of their driving is the worst insult know to mankind.

See Torpid, you can do it - Be useful and informative without being abusive.
IMO the mk4 handles worse than the mk3 and the fuel economy of both the 2.0 "GTI" and 1.8T "GTI" are both dire.
The 2.0 in the mk4 is a truly shocking engine.

I wouldn't bother with the Satria just because of resale value and worries over build quality although you will get a nice new one.
Personally I think the original poster would be much better off with a 1.8 Focus than a tired old hot hatch.
1999 S Reg FORD Focus 1.8 Zetec
Manual, Hatchback, Petrol, 47,297 miles, Metallic Silver. Vehicle Has A Main Dealer Serviced History Serviced AT The Following, 10283, 17028, 22122, 29785. Alloys, PAS, E-Pack, CD Player, Colour Coded Mirrors, Body Coloured Bumpers, In Mint Condition with Service History, MOT and Warranty, Must View!!! Please go to Used Car Sales Manchester, Specialist Used Car Dealer Manchester - Premier Car Centre for full info on mileages, service history and more stock. £3,299.
Unfortunately on the current evidence he's not the brightest spark in the firmament so he'll probably dismiss it out of hand

A mate recently had a £4k budget and I recommended a Focus albeit with the livelier 1.6 Zetec engine - Got himself a minter Y reg that handles rather tidily.
Not a bad idea.
