i live near kim marsh's mum and dad met her once when i was younger wasnt that nice. well look at steve brookstein where's he now 2 years later? and the only reason ray is still in is because he was in brookside he aint that good!

From what little i saw of the show, it never seems to be about the singers skills or talant anyway.

Life stories about dead sisters etc have little bearing on their ability to sing IMO

I reckon not winning it is a better dea lthan winning. The poor winner's got to work with whichever boring production line songwriters that their X factor judge saddles them with. The runners up get the benefit of the exposure, then get to go andsort their own deals out.

PS: I've got more singing talent in my little finger than Eton Road & the McDonuts combined and as MrsD would no doubt testify, I can't sing for sh!te

The X Factor (UK) is a device purely for making Mr Cowell more money - and for that I applaud him. Never used to like him, but I've had chance to "get where he's coming from"....

Since 2001, there has been a "phone-vote" number one on or around Christmas. The main blips have been Bob the Builder, and Band Aid 200x. (This includes Hearsay in Spring time)

But if you think about the concept, they've taken the whole risk of releasing a single by an unkown. The market is in place, waiting with baited breath, to buy the song that they like best!!
Most of the money isn't made off the singles - it's the merchandise and the X Factor tour, that they all sign up to. Again, the market is already in place.....

Steve Brookstein - heard that he did his first album with Simon, and it did pretty well apparently as his fame was quite strong. Then, apparently, Simon said that the stuff he was writing himself was not good enough and he should do a collection of covers for the second album. Then, SB kicked off and said no-way and quit Simco (SC's company) to go alone. And then faded into oblivion.

In my mind, he's an idiot. With someone like SC backing you, you have a far greater chance than with almost everybody else. To go alone is stupid.

And to the other poster who said SB is doing well for himself 'corporate gigs and the like' - woo... He did all this stuff and doing well is doing corporate gigs - do me a favour. He got cocky, felt he was better than he was, went alone and faded into nothing, riding on the back of his limited fame appeal.

Leona to win, without a doubt, although lets not forget it's governed by the gullible public and a certain amount of manipulation.

Always fun to see Kate telling people 'the lines have now closed' and within 3 seconds, she;s handed the results. Bugger me, is Steven Hawking's doing the sums to add up, then the worlds fastest writer putting them on a bit of card for her to read out! Blink amazing....

I doubt there is anything written on the card she is holding, it will all come through her earpiece.

The only person who should win this is Leona. Anyone else is a travesty. The final should be her and Ben, with her winning.

I didn't like Robert, he was too Frank Bruno, but I thought he was a good performer and singer, should have made it to the final.

I'd like to get teh average catchment of phone voters, line them up, and slap each one with a wet fish.

Not for who they voted, because they are stupid enough to actually pick up the phone and become the cash cow that x-factor was invented to be.
