A clear, cut answer is this...

If you are making money out of it and it is not a one off and not classed as private classifieds, then it is commercial/trader..... how ever small an amount is being asked. If others want to discuss the "product" that is fine.

Please.... before you start shouting from the roof tops consider this....

What is the difference between you selling 20 DVD's and someone selling 20 FMIC kits, a DVD for £2 profit, a FMIC for £100 profit? Nothing in reality, but a person selling FMIC's would without doubt be classed as a trader, so hence the problem.

Your stance / integrity is not in question but a blanket rule must be in place to ensure clear understanding etc. If this is not the case I will be arguing for ever with the people who WILL take advantage of this (not you).

But.......

There is nothing stopping you from asking someone else to start a Group Buy FOR FREE. Advertising it FOR FREE on ScoobyShop. But unfortunately you will not be able to use ScoobyNet to advertise it personally.

I dont see that any of this detracts from this DVD being produced, or the ability for it to be obtained or exposed on ScoobyNet.

Regards,
Shaun.

Vtec to Turbo,
I really appreciate your attitude and understanding.... thank you very much.

Peter,
You can state what you like regarding the cost etc. This would be no different than you talking about any other product or service within the Group Buy area that you were not directly associated with.

Regards,
Shaun.

No problem. End goal is the same

I presume I'd be able to update the list?

i think this is a bit ott shaun. it's a thing for esc memebers. it not as if it'll be posted in the classifieds section. there are very few pepole other than esc members that look at this section.

the mentality of snet is going down hill rapidly imo. think i'll take a break for a while. once the karting event is out of the way on the 18th that'll be it for me i think.

Sorry, but those points are totally irrelevant.

We can't have one rule for one and not for another.

Like I said before, nothing stated on here will detract from the production or promotion / sale of this DVD in anyway shape or form.

Shaun.

i can't see the difference between running it as a "group buy" (per a previous post) and it just being posted up as "if you want one let me know"?

any profit, in this case practically nothing, still gets made by the person promoting / producing the product weither they post it or not. so to follow the new rule completely the source of goods should be an authorised trader by snet, regardless of what they are selling and how much for, before the group buy could go ahead.

surely getting rid of people of like vapid, rabid etc would be better for the board. you'd get a lot more respect for it. but then again that doesn't pay towards the board does it? i'll say this, loads of people are thinking it.

perhaps i should just get my coat. been great to be a part of the esc for a while. if anyone wants a chat, you know where to find me.

mneame,
I am not trying to be awkward, but I have clearly stated the difference........

The Group Buy would be started by someone else...... this is the point you have missed.

Group Buy's can not be started by the individual selling the product, unless they are an AA. Having someone else (which has always been allowed) starting and following the GB through, then makes the GB valid.

While I take on board the issues you suggest with users being banned, this has been done to death before. If someone EVER comes up with a solution that actually enables us to "get rid" of people, they will have a solution that will be worth an abosolute mint to the internet. This is and never has meant that we do nothing about it, far from it. But means that whilst it may seem very simple to yourself (as in the solution), the answer is very rarely that simple in reality...... if it was that simple, do you really think we wouldnt use that answer?!

Regards,
Shaun.

i haven't missed the point at all. i quite clearly mention it above. the source of the product at the end of the day makes the money regardless of who starts the gb so what's the difference?

re banning users, agreed it is difficult. but if the service of a forum is being provided then it should be "policed".

Because the GB route is the route that is available to keep everything above board... thats the difference. If this was not the case, it would give the green light for others to do as they wish.

Perhaps the "policing" could be better, but you will never please everyone all of the time. On the whole I feel that the moderation team do a good job, which is neither easy or always rewarding. However, I do feel at times that others within the community do not do themselves any favours and at times fuel "hotspots" by responding and biting. At times it can be catch 22.

The good old days have unfortunately gone due to the size of the community now, whilst that may offer some negatives, on the whole the community is a fun place to be for the majority. With other things coming on board and being discussed (events for instance), it tends to make you realise that we can all do our bit by ignorning the "chaff" and getting on with enjoying the community that we have all helped to build up.

For most, ScoobyNet is all about meeting people and having fun. Would be a shame for the minority to get in between that...... which they wont if they are ignored.

But as always, we will continue to look at ways in helping this along where realistic and pragmatic.

Regards,
Shaun.

John1uk,

What about proxy servers.

Not all "puckka" IP's are static either (and could be shared by a number of people).

I don't know whether to or ..... nice thought though mate.

Shaun.
