Stan,

BT are crafty in that a telephone number to dial to connect is not enough. You need the dialer/BT software CD.

Another sham.....................

Cool

"BT are a clueless bunch of w*nkers".

No they're not. They are a civil service department which has been turned into a public company. "Yes Minister" with consequences.

The engineer who fitted my ADSL was a great bloke, ditto the 3 blokes who fitted my second line (cos they had to trace and route)for 75 quid.

I had trouble with the backbone collapse last week and I was v. upset. But have some perspective. If my business depended on it I'd be pursuing them for recompense. As it doesn't, I'm not. There is no doubt in my mind that they oversold their capacity. Wittingly or unwittingly I don't know.

BUT. When I did have to chase them because they charged for installation and HOme Highway conversion, I got a refund. Most helpful people.

But then I didn't behave like a know all threatening gob$hite.

Oh and by the way, I posted to the effect that my employer's are turds because they cancelled my car insurance. Other people probably think they're great. Possibly. Perhaps.

Anyone who doesn't like my employers, up yours.

Thanks Kippax - suspected it was missing software - but I was sure I'd downloaded it originally - cannot find it now though.

Thumbs up

BT internet/openworld are using BT's name but they have nothing to do with BT.

I have never slagged off the good BT people fitting phone lines and trying to deal with customers complaints etc.

I'm talking about the business strategy used by the ponsy tosser graduate managment types at BTOPENWORLD who know they can take the p!ss and get away with it.

Saying all that, this thread seems to have done the business 'cos after 12 months of suffering, BTOPENWORLD seem to have sorted it out.
