If you look in ANY cookery book or speak to any decent chef he will tell you...
lamb - very nice rare.
beef - very nice rare, you can even eat it raw sir, steak tartare?
pork - make sure you cook it right through
There is a reason for the latter and it is not contamination as widely thought, it is to kill bacteria and parasitic infestation.
So, pork dangerous? Please eat some rare pork roast and we will see

Every decent cook book I've read comments that pork can be eaten this way.
Gary Rhodes suggests pork loin should be pink in the middle also.
I'm guessing your fanny craddock book is a little out of date

holy ghost here. sadly i'm stuck in the identity of charles clarke due to a sudden change in the wind. suddenly being a useless, petulant, beady-eyed, untrustworthy, venal and unshaven fat to55er with a P45 is no fun i can tell you. i just get laughed at.
anyway olly, just an observation about pigs. they only roll in their own **** because they are typically kept by man in such poor conditions with insufficient space. in their natural state, they will nest and do their business some distance away from where they sleep. and when it's hot they will roll in mud to cool and protect their skin, much like a hippopotamus.
so it's not for that reason: i think it's because pork easily carries parasites and if not cooked properly, can pass those parasites onto us. ["excuse me sir, you appear to have dropped your tapeworm?"]
more fool them for listening to men in silly hats tell them what they can and cannot eat. just use a meat thermometer. picky eaters, huh?

tel, hg here, still trapped in the body of a beardy ********.
i don't know but i'm sure LPB means that because in such areas, the cookers are a bit pants. you can't get a consistent heat and you can't dial in the temperature precisely. plus you haven't got a clue as to what temperature you're actually cooking at in the first place. under those circumstances, i'd probably leave pork alone too. i mean, have you tried finding a pochins outlet in the hindu kush so you can get spare parts for your aga? it's hard, man.
either that or pigs in the sub-continent explode at altitude, consituting a health & safety hazard on peasant smallholdings.

All over the world at 1 time pigs were unhealthy to eat. They carry human parasites which even in England, helped to spread by using pigs to eat human ****. In Western europe generally pigs no longer eat **** apart from in France and belgium where sludge from septic tanks is added to pig food. The 'used to' referred to the fact that currently not all pigs are fed human **** but at one point most pigs in the world were. Now how healthy they are to eat depends on where they come from.

Morning Mr Ghost. Yep all technically correct, but let's be clear - millions of people do eat and have eaten pork for many many years with no side effects at all. You could introduce guidelines about a lot of other foodstuffs in a similar way without the need to put them into One Big Book Of Rules For The Stupid. My point is that to continue to worship this abstinence of one specific food is ludicrous, and highlights what a crock the whole religious funfair really is.

So a question is asked at the beginning of the thread,it is answered, and then people start to slate religions (again).
The reasons not to eat pig meat seem quite clear,if you want to ignore them because you like the taste then thats up to you.
If there are people who dont want it then it leaves more for the people who do.
Personally I find it smells like sweaty bollox after a hard days work in the sun...never been tempted to try dick myself.
